I don't think I follow. You are saying you can't put 2,900 lbs in a truck with a yellow sticker that says 2,900 lbs?
Thats not what I said.
I said the 29xx lbs in the bed will overload the 4800 RAWR. Many folks think a GVWR based payload number on a sticker can all be put in the bed of a F150 5.4 4x4 reg cab long bed truck in question.
I have no idea where the 2944 lb payload number thrown around comes from.
Ford body service specs list a 2016 reg cab F150 HD 5.0 4x4 LB 7850 GVWR 4800 RAWR with a 3040 lb payload. They list the truck with a 1872 rear axle weight.
Simple math shows 1872 + 3040 payload = 4912 lb for a over load.
The same truck in the 2wd truck with the 3270 lb payload and a 1847 rear axle weight = 5117 lb for another over load when all the weight is placed in the bed.
A newby would be well advised to run some actual scaled rear axle numbers first before dropping much over 2400-2500 lbs in the bed of any F150 truck.
