First dually

I had extensions added to all 6 tires last April and so far all is good. The tire place made sure I had metal valve stems before they added the extensions.

They said they would not put them on tires with rubber valve stems.

So my suggestion is to make sure you have the metal ones to start with.

I also went to a dually about one year ago. Could not get to the inside tire. Did some research, and finally found a set that rated high for not leaking. It also had a good clamp to hold it to the outside rim. I've had them on for about 1 year and so far no leaks. I think I bought them off of Amazon, or real truck. I read all the reviews. For some reason I think they are Milton, but could be wrong.

I personally like the stock inside dual valve stems on my Dually. Not sure the proper name for them but you just push to air or test pressure, no screw on cap. Same thing on my last 11 Dually and the tires never lost pressure in 65K the new truck has been solid for 6K. This is what you need to make your life easier. Buy Quality from the beginning!

I tried extensions on my last truck, cheap and they leaked. Went with Alloca longer stems and didn't have any problems in 8 years. Actually our current camper also has them as stock OEM equipment.
About the only downside is you have to remove the tire to install them.

RE, the plastic tubing mentioned above. I found a large size drinking straw which works perfectly for removing the short extensions I put on the inside duals. I actually hate checking air pressure with the extensions on, so I remove them with the aforementioned drinking straw, check air, then replace them with the straw again.

The straw actually grips the extensions tight enough to tighten them down so they stay on. I only use the extension, short as it is, in lieu of a regular cap on the inside dual, as it's just too hard to get at a cap to take it off.

I'm a slow learner so I tried three different valve extensions. All three leaked, some immediately and some not for a year or so. But all leaked eventually. Now I just use the proper long reach gauge and inflator. I have a piece of plastic tubing that fits snugly over the valve cap and makes removing it a snap.

I might look into the long inflator and gauges thanks. I'm not sue how o post pictures yet.

Congrats on the new truck!

I read so many people with leaks on so many brands of extensions, that I went with long reach Milton gauges and inflators. Excellent American made quality. Amazon carries them.
