Flagstaff Microlite 25DS

I purchased this TT this past fall. We have been camping via tents and Pop-up trailers for many years. This is our first big box trailer. I am posting this as a warning to anyone looking to purchase this make trailer.
Nothing of any kind can be mounted to the rear bumper of this rig. Mounting anything on to the bumper voids the factory warranty. I've communicated this question to the factory and they confirmed this. What a surprise to me since the dealer I purchased the TT from offered to install two different type of bike racks to the bumper.
If you want to take bikes with you they have to be stored either inside the TT or mounted to the tow vehicle if possible - neither is an acceptable solution for me.
Another example of "buyer by where".
  • That bumper issue is quite common with almost all travel trailers.

What the dealer should have told you is, a bike rack could be mounted back there, with extra support welded to the trailer frame, and such modifications are not covered under manufacturer warranties.

Here's a link to one that mounts on the trailer tongue. Flagstaff won't cover that one either, but, the trailer tongue isn't going to fall off, like that bumper will.
  • Sorry for the bad experience. Over the years, this subject has come up more than a few times. The bumpers are apparently for looks and to stow the sewer hose only, not sturdy and as you said, WILL void the warranty. The same bumper is used on many, many trailers, not just the FR you bought. We had both a HTT and now a TT with the same bumper. Did your dealer actually go ahead and mount the bike rack or are you still ok? If you have occasion to talk to FR again, I would certainly mention that your dealer would have been happy to mount either of two racks on that bumper. There are several good racks to be had. You might PM bikendan for a recommendation if he doesn't chime in....a serious biker and knows his stuff.
