I agree. An extended jack is a shaky jack. The purpose of using a BLOCK is so that you do NOT have to extend the jack so high, thus keeping the entire trailer more stable.
This device does nothing to eliminate the front of the trailer wobbling on a 2 1/2" post. In fact, it adds a connection, with the potential for MORE wobble.
One 6x6 approximately 12" long, does not take up that much space, and I can keep that "post" as short as possible.
