What about anything for scuba-diving enthusiasts, around Islamorada? Any CGs that cater to divers?
Pennecamp has dive gear and dive boats. You can dive from shore too. - Carb_CleanerExplorerWhat about anything for scuba-diving enthusiasts, around Islamorada? Any CGs that cater to divers?
- Larry37ExplorerWe had 5 nights reserved last winter months in advance and had to cancel 1 week prior due to a death in family. So sites do pop up last minute.
So we are going to try again. We booked about a month ago 4 nights for 1st week in May.
BUT- 1 night at Bahia , 2 at Long key and 1 at Pennecamp. We don't mind moving and are just glad to have the sites for $ 35 night - mguayExplorer

It appears that Geiger is more out of the way. And a better place to launch a canoe for exploring and fishing. Can you confirm or deny that?
It's about 13-14 miles from Key West proper. East at MM 11ish and then another 1-2 miles. Great place to launch. Public launch area next door with plenty of parking.
If by not being close to KW means to you being out of the way....the closest you will get is Boyds and Leos. They are both in the area of MM5.
The one thing I've noticed is that all the CG's are in the Lower Keys are usually around every 5 miles or so.
MM5 Boyds, Leos
MM11 Geiger Key Marina/RV
MM15 Bluewater Key
MM20 Lazy Lakes RV Resort, KOA - Capt_EddieExplorerIt appears that Geiger is more out of the way. And a better place to launch a canoe for exploring and fishing. Can you confirm or deny that?
- mguayExplorerJust another FYI...
Today while touring we stopped at Geiger Key Marina/Rv for lunch. The food was awesome! We asked for a CG map and rates then walked the 20 or so sites. Their prices are exact to Boyds. Their lots are about the same size as well. The only real differences were that Boyds has grass and Geiger is all pea-stone. The other thing is that Boyds has foliage between lots and Geiger does not. Geiger on the other hand has about 60% of its lots on the water. There were a few big Class A's and 5ers. Tighter than Boyds though. - Bill___KateExplorerThere is a storage place at the intersection of Route one and Coco Plum Drive, just north of Marathon, that advertises dry camping for relatively cheap - like $25 or so. Sorry, don't recall the name or have a number .....Maybe named "Marina 54 RV Resort"???
Found it, I think ... Marina 54 RV Resort - nycsteveExplorer

Are there any Floriday Key boondocking opportunities that anyone is willing to share inbetween campground stays from mid-April to early May?
The Keys has limited space and a robust tourist trade. Its unlikly that you will find boondocking where you will be unbothered. - truckcamperonmyExplorerAre there any Floriday Key boondocking opportunities that anyone is willing to share inbetween campground stays from mid-April to early May?
