The whole point is that F150 Lightning had this extra in a breakthrough creative thinking.
And imagine how many deaths been prevented had they have this in their garage in Texas during the states deep freeze. Of course, it's not cheaper than going to Cancun but if you have an RV, California can be a cheaper escape.:W
And taking nothing away from the E150 or any other EV. They have their place and are advancing in capability at a rapid pace. (Nevermind those that can't seem to also recognize their limitations.)
First, you still don't math well.
If you're putting out even half of the max inverter capacity at close to 5kwh, (Same as an average box store 5kw genset can produce, for those emergencies...), your "full" E150 tank will power the very limited stuff the little generator will, for about 16hours (assuming it stops at only 20% charge remaining.)
Explain again how that would help during a days long power outage when you CAN'T recharge it? Oh, wait, you'd have a generator to charge the truck? Lol
And the Texas deep freeze? How much have you been smoking?
200+ people died. Some from car accidents and the rest, mostly homeless. I'm sure if they only had a new $100k truck to power their cardboard box, they'd have lived.
Oh, wait, the other millions that didn't have generators or a plan B, most of them wouldn't be owning a new Lightning either….but they also did not die.
One thing is very likely, if there were a bunch of those trucks around during that snomageddon, they would have been dead in the water before the temperature even got close to bottoming out. But maybe they could drive it to the other places with no power to charge it up there?
