Ford F250 Gas with Northern Lite 8-11

There seemed to be some frustration in getting an answer on another thread about how the 2017 F250 gas hauls a camper weighing about 2,600 pounds. I can tell you that we've been hauling our new NL all over the Yellowstone region for the past two months, and the truck handles it very well, plenty of power up the steep grades of the mountains. We don't do a lot of highway driving, but when we have, it was fine. Since the truck only has 3,000 miles, we're still expecting some improvement in gas mileage since it's averaging about 11 with the camper. Our Chevy 2500HD averaged about 12.8. We have airbags, but are also adding the Hellwig Big Wig sway bar since we get some uncomfortable sway when going over uneven payment, such as into our driveway. But we don't get any sway otherwise. Overall, I'm happy with the F250 gas.

I cannot imagine how you came to the conclusion RV.NET fits in this statement.

Sorry for that.
I think jimh425 did a pretty good job explaining why you are routinely running in trouble with moderators.

In the face of real data that disputed your own, you punted.

From the cheap seats since I'm not a moderator. I think you are having problems with moderators because you seem to be focused on hijacking threads ... "trying" to prove how smart you are ... and injecting your political positions.

There are plenty of sites for that, btw. rv.net just doesn't happen to be one of them.

Sorry for my part of this thread hijack.

Btw, economics was not the primary reason for my purchase of a diesel.

For the record, I did not give the answer. I only pointed direction how to get the correct one.
Obviously there is much more than economy for engine choice. I value the fact that I don't get wet back looking for gas station 200 miles since last fill up.
But on the long run it all boils to economy.
When my oldest son was in college, I offer him diesel Mercedes.
He declined saying "Mercedes is for old people" and bought sport car instead.
But a year later he come home for Christmas and wanted to take his HS friends for some area cruising. So did he took his sport car? Nope > he ask me for permission to drive diesel instead. On Saturday night he put 270 miles on it. Still car had more than 1/2 tank left.

Kaytegs data is correct. I live near Houston and it appears to have higher prices than north Texas. I try to buy name brand, mostly Shell, for loyalty to my previous employer. The refining epicenter of the universe has the higher prices. Go figure.

I posted it in other, now closed thread.
Engine choice is mostly economical decision. Each engine will "do the work" when $8k is high up front premium for driving diesel.
So all it takes is taking paper, pencil, estimate for how long you plan to keep the truck and having actuall fuel cost you will come up if the diesel will pay for itself, or not.
But when you get false data, whole decision making makes no sense.
Meaning we are wasting time dealing with "pot stirrers"

Kayteg1, so what? I am trying to understand the purpose of your post. I really don't see it as contributing anything of value to this thread.

Truck stops always charge more for diesel as they supply parking, showers and tv rooms for drivers.
But when you post general 35 cents difference when it is 10 cents, that is what I call posting with an agenda.

Kayteg1, I'm pretty sure that Texas has pockets like WA and Idaho do where the prices are different compared to other parts of the other state. I'm not sure why you want to say TxGearheads post was misinformation, misleading, and plain false data.

I know for a fact that diesel prices vary widely from Montana to Washington. Look at these two prices for instance.

Here you go, diesel is $0.52 cents higher. https://www.gasbuddy.com/Station/Love's/ID/Post%20Falls/140817 I agree that it doesn't make any sense, but there it is.

That is usual way those discussion steer.
Misinformation, misleading and plain false data.
Tx gas prices oscilate at $1.80

TX diesel prices oscilate at $1.90

The links are live data, so will show you current pricing.

I only seem to average 10.5-12 with my 2015 Cummins/4:10 with aisn trans. That is running under 65 or 55 mph with red lights every 5 miles

Edit. Running 14,000 lbs plus flat towing a 3000 Chevy S10.

I think at this point in time if you're happy with a gasser, I'm happy for you. Gas is $1.90 and diesel is $2.25. It's a wash on per mile costs. The up-front cost of a diesel is the deal breaker. But if you need one, you need one.
I think about my old 1982 F-250 with a cabover pulling a utility trailer full of hunting stuff. That 300cu in 6 cylinder may have had 160 net horsepower. Down shift and floor it.

No surf, you could get 12 mpg if you stay out of the mountains and drive 55 mph.:)
