The medium duty Aisin tranny now offered in the regular 3500 SRW and3500 DRW trucks is as good, in my opinion, as the Allison...I owned three Chevy D/A trucks and the medium duty Aisin transmission coupled to the medium duty Cummins engine is also a very good "dynamic duo":)
The Allison that is offered in the HD GM twins is a "neutered" version of what comes behind the Cummins or other engines in a Medium duty application.
This is per the West Coast Chrysler Warranty rep Stan Gozzi "they don't break" referring to the Aision trans in the RAM's.
