I think I've figure out how I want to take care of my winterization process with everyone's input for the last 2 years now. I've emptied my fresh water tank and left it open the past week to ensure it is empty. Now do I leave it open, or close it?? :W

Closed. I bought a 5th a few years ago and the previous owner had left the fresh water valve open and I had to clean out the mud dauber nest to drain the tank after filling it.

What for? There's always gonna be a little bit of water in the tank. Lots of room to expand. The drain etc. is pex and is very resistant to damage from freezing.

My drain is a little plastic faucet that looks like it would be easy to damage.:h

I leave mine closed after draining it good. After pouring antifreeze into the traps, I add another quart or so to protect the valve. Hopefully most of that quart makes it into the pipe to reach the valve and doesn't just sit in the bottom of the tank.

Since my fresh water tank drain line comes out of the tank along the bottom side wall, at the end of the season I park the rig on a side slope and open the plug. Once it stops dripping and then parked level, no residual water will make it to the plug and freeze.

I always leave the fresh water tank valve open and the hot water tank plug out. Never had any issues. I sanitize the water system in the spring when I get it out of the storage building.

I leave mine open. No worry about catching water in the drain and freezing. Never found any bugs in my fresh water tank, very few bugs around here in the winter.
