We are off soon on a trip and the camping site we are using has full hookups. Power and water will be great. It'll be 4 of us for 4 nights. 2 adults and 2 kids. A couple questions around the sewer hook up piece. Do you find it more convenient to hook up to sewer when you get there so there are no issues of full tanks later? Both grey and black? Or do you wait and see if you need to. If you do what do you do with the 90 deg end that goes into the hook up. We have a dump hose that sits in a "case" on the outside of the camper. But, to hook in to the sewer I envision a 90 degree fitting will be advantageous.This all reminds me that I need to get a fitting for our grey water tank to make it easier to drain cleanly.

You mean where do you store the 90?I toss it in the little compartment where the valves were on our old TCs. Your camper has separate gray drain? That doesn’t make sense. What washes out the black residoo from the stinky slinky?At camp, presuming you plan on using water like it’s free (because that’s the point of fhu). Leave gray open so you can use sinks and shower at will. (Or just dump it as needed). Leave black closed, you don’t want black tank just free draining. When you need to dump black make sure there’s some gray water to flush out after black. (Unless you actually have 2 drains, which I’ve never seen)

My drain location is on the back, under the entry door. I only hook up the slinky and pull the drain valve when the tank is close to full capacity.

For just a few days, we hook it up when we first dump.Don't dump with less than 75% full tanks, so that the solids get pulled out.Then if we will still be there, we will often leave it hooked up but shut the valves. The hose should be empty between dumps.Yes, we have a 90degree end. The hose lives in a plastic tub.

Hook up sewer when you need it. I rarely even hook up water. I use my tank.

SewerSolution is using 1" smooth hose for drainage and you flush it with clean water before disconnecting.
White gloves job if you are careful.
Additional benefit - you can turn the water injector into the piping/tanks giving them easy flush.

Because it runs more water down the hose? I have the camco clean out fitting, but didn't use it in this case. Learning as I go. 6 of the last 7 nights have been in the camper fr the Oregon Coast to Lake Cascade in ID.

Trip was good. Hooked up twice to drain tanks while there. Only bummer is the hose kept water trapped and now my bin that holds the hose has grey water sloshing around. When we get home tomorrow (2nd trip of the week), I'll clean that out and sanitize it.

There is a term "pyramid of death" who made a lot of forum replies applying to black tanks. I own different RVs for over 30 years and never experienced the phenomena, but I always use lot of water with #2.
Also when I pack to leave while having hookups, I start with filling the toilet with water to the rim and then dumping it.
As I said, I prefer to use Sewer Solution, but when we've been fultiming after house sale, we had 3" hose with dump valves open for 3 months without an issue.

I wouldn't say that exactly. I would say the general consensus is to leave the black water tank valve closed and only dump it when you need to or are leaving, but I would say most will leave there grey water valve open as there is no issue of toilet paper building a monument in that tank.

I am just finishing the 2nd one.
The first one had the shower from Lance and it is sold.
For 2nd conversion I bought extended van and put shower from Fleetwood and fitted wet toilet under the sink.
You don't see how big TC is till you try to put the same stuff into van. :o
As for bellowed - it is speller correction, where it should be beloved.

Hooking up the sewer hose upon arrival or later has very little relevance there not being "issues with fill tanks later."

The general consensus in the RV world is to not leave the tank dump valves open full time when you have the poop hose hooked up.
