I beefed up my OFF-ROAD POPUP CAMPER with more batteries - larger charging cables - led lights-smart mode converter/charger to run all of my camping off the power grid needs.
I use the 2KW Honda Generator sitting secured in the tail gate corner of my truck. The only reason I use my generator is to connect to my on board smart mode converter/charger unit using the 30A shore power cable and a RV30A-15A adapter plugged into the generator.
This re-charges my 50% depleted battery bank to at least 90% charge state in a three hour generator run time. I normally do this at 8AM each morning.
Since this is only during the morning hours you might get away with a louder generator. My PD9260C converter/charger only needs around 900WATTs to operate.
Been doing this for a few years camping off the power grid. Works out very good for us...
This fits in well with all of the generator run time restrictions we run into alot here on the East side of the US...
Running off the batteries along with a 600WATT PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER does all we need but of course this does not include the Air Conditioner or high wattage Microwave...
