Eye candy. They are built on the same assembly line using the same conponents. Different badges. There has been stories of Chevrolets showing up at dealers lots with GMC badges on one side and Chevy badges on the other.
I worked at a GMC truck dealership in the 80's, we had a Caballero come off the truck with Chevy emblems on the tail gate. - fla-gypsyExplorerIt's all about the fluff

Was told back in '90 when we got our '91 GMC that GMC has always been the higher end truck of the 2 and the edge was always in favor of GMC. years before this the differences were large (higher tow, capacity ratings). Nowdays, it's more minute as others have stated where say a am radio is std on a Chevy and am/fm is std on a GMC. Don't know this for a fact, but in years past, GMC had always been a higher price truck and GMC was known as the "HD work truck" of the 2. If I was in the market for a GM truck and price was the same, I'd opt for the GMC.
price GMC and Chevy today. they will be within a few dollars of each other for the same trim and options.
Have you priced and driven Fords and RAMs? Chris - ktmrfsExplorer II

Hey folks thanks for all your valued input. Now we must make a decision.
Probably the hardest part- I went from a Chevy to GMC to another GMC and now back to Chevy.
Combination of the dealer, the look of the truck, and price.
I have found a dealer in my new home town that is simply amazing- I actually had my truck moved from the GMC dealer to the Chevy dealers because the local GMC experience was so poor.
So I am buying a new Chevy- I also really like the High Country interior...
Good Luck! - rkasslExplorerHey folks thanks for all your valued input. Now we must make a decision.

GM engineer told me that the GMC trucks have better sound proofing and upgraded interior material. It really doesn't matter to me, Chevrolet or GMC they are both great.
well, if you compare High country and Denali interiors, while the seats are different colors, other than that it would take a microscope to see any differences. Same with the rest of the trim, different shapes maybe, different colors sometimes, but again trying to find a difference would be really tough.
soundproofing? maybe, but I suspect that for equal trim levels and apples to apples the soundproofing is the same.'
I agree, both are great and IMHO it boils down to which one you like the best, or which dealer gives you the best deal, or which dealer you like the best, or in some cases what color you want. - GeoBoyExplorerGM engineer told me that the GMC trucks have better sound proofing and upgraded interior material. - FlatBrokeExplorer III like the GMC dealer better than the Chev dealer. There less than a mile apart. Nice to have a choice though.
