I tow 6700 lb trailer with the truck in my sig. The 5.3 does just fine. It does rev at times - occasionally over 4000 but that is fine. You will want to watch what rear end. My 2012 has the 3.42. The 3.08 would be bad for towing. The 6 speed tranny is much better than the old 4 spd.
