- Have a 2014 Silverado 1500, assembled in Indiana.
Only have 1300 miles on it since end of October. I noticed the "idles on 2 cylinder" statement.
My dash info center displays "V8" at idle, then moves from V8 to V4 according to conditions.
Wonder if it is ever supposed to display"V2"? - Interesting... The trucks engines are designed to idle with 2 cylinders but do to a software glitch the engines idle with all 8 cylinders and overheats!

Well, that proves it. GM's/Chevy's and no good. I'm unloading mine and getting a Dodge....:) - They sure make a bunch of 1500's :B
Most of which are most likely still on the dealers lots according to last month's sales figures :R - Seems to be limited to the 5.3L and smaller motors so shouldn't affect too many on this forum. Only 8 reported fires indicates it is not a serious issue unless you were one of the eight.
