Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor problem

I had 6 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires installed on my truck 2 years ago. I have a problem with 2 tires. One had a belt shift, and the other has cracking around the bead. Has anyone experienced like problems?

At first the only thing Goodyear said they were willing to do is give me a credit (prorate) for a future purchase. I explained although I appreciate the prorate on a future purchase, I am faced with the expense of 6 new tire now. I got a supervisor on the phone today that is willing to give me $300. Although it's no where near what 6 new tires are costing me, I guess it's better then nothing. The aggravation alone is worth more then this. So much for being loyal to Goodyear, I have 3 vehicles with Goodyear tires not to mention my 5th wheel.

Check with the GM dealer before wider tires are put on the rear for proper clearance. Just taller might be OK. I guess I would be pushing for 6 new tires under warranty. At least a prorated credit on all 6 that require replacement due to the GY defect.

They said they don't have a warranty tire to provide me with. They said the only option is to replace all 6 tires in the size the now offer (which is a larger size then what is on my truck currently).

Can't they put the two warranty replacements on the front?

I am on my second set of GY Silent Armor. Been very good tires.

I checked with the dealer and with Goodyear direct. They have discontinued the tire and replaced it with something new. Never the less, they do not make any tire in the size that I need. I also purchased road hazard with the original purchase. Goodyear said the only option is to replace all 6 tires with the next size up. My GMC dealer stated if I go to the next size tire my computer will need to reprogrammed to assure the speedometer and ABS work properly. Why Goodyear would discontinue a tire without having a sized replacement is beyond me. All I know is that I'm stuck buying 6 new tires and Goodyear is not willing to warranty them. So much for Road Hazard and Warranty.

All tires can have a problem for someone. sometime, thats why they have warranties. I used that brand/model for over 170K miles on my last truck and never had a problem. Check with your tire dealer for warranty.

Note that there are many philosophies on tire compounding

I've gone through the Michelin's that came on the Mini Van (used). Next set
Falkens (didn't like them much), now Coopers (okay) and going to Bridgestone
next set

Saying that these are all in the same 'P' class, but vary different in their
rubber compounding

Michelins were the 'hardest' (durometer), next the Coopers and the softest were
the Falkens

Ditto truck tires

Geolander's are 'soft' and will NOT get the mileage a harder will (generally
speaking)...but they have better grip

The best of all for 'me' are the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's on my Sub. The Sub
came with Firestone (blew two), then about 5 sets of Michelin LTX (both AT and MS)
and now the Dueler's.

How long they last also depends on both how you drive and the size/load/etc

Yes, i had them on my 2500 chevy when i bought it (used). i had one with a broken belt. Created a noticable bulge on the face of the tire. Switched to Yokohamas Geolanders great tires but i am not quite getting the miles out of them that i had hopped. Not awful but not as good as i hopped.
