Greasing Barker tongue jack grease

Please share what type of grease you use for your Barker tongue jack. Both the manual and Barker customer service are very general -

From the Barker manual:

Once a year, the powerhead should be removed and a
liberal amount of grease (preferably a grease with high
melting point) applied directly to the coupling on which
the drive pin rests.

From customer service when asked for clarification on the manual:

Use a high quality grease

I don't want to wreck the jack by using something inappropriate, so thanks for suggestions.
  • I don't know which Barker model you have, but reading owner's manual on their site for the VIP 3000, I found this: "If lubrication is needed, use Mobilith 460 grease or equivalent".

Go to their website and find the owner's manual for your model. I'll bet it's the same grease used on all of them.
  • It's not critical, any common axle/bearing grease will work.
  • I would think any grease for wheel bearings with disc brakes would qualify. Probably also any synthetic wheel bearing grease would work as well.
