Heading to Ft Myers next week... No plans, no reservations

Taking 10 days and heading to Ft Myers FL with the TC. We have no reservations at any campground or any plans as what we will be doing except, of course, basking in the sun. I am familiar with most of the campgrounds down there... But was wondering if anyone down there knows if last minute sites would be available? Also what the weather is like first week of March? And finally, what current fun events the first week of March?

This 10 below weather here in PA is torture.

Try out a canoe on the Estero River while staying at Koreshan State Park. I lived a few miles (a 5 minute dirt-bike ride) from there while in High School, back in the early 80's when Route 41 was a two-lane surrounded by farms and Orange groves. I've canoed that River many, many times. Awesome wildlife! If you keep an eye out, you might see a rope swing. There's a great canoe shop right on Route 41 where it crosses the Estero River, in the town of Estero (don't get confused with Estero Island, often called Ft. Myers Beach). CLICKY They'll set you up if you can't get a canoe at the park. If you get a boat at Route 41, go upstream (East), which takes you under a train trussle and then you come to the little bridge at Sandy Lane. It starts to get rather narrow after the Sandy Lane bridge, but it's possible to paddle up to the split, if you're curious enough to go that far. If you get a canoe and put-in at the park, also consider going upstream, first. Route 41 isn't far from the Koreshan boat ramp. Look for gators catching some rays on the bank. Downstream from the park, the river widens, but I think the narrow bits are more interesting. Kids of all ages will find it unforgettable.
You'll enjoy the Red Coconut. They've been there forever. Fantastic Sunsets! Keep an eye on your woman-folk. I'm sure some things haven't changed since I frequented that beach (more than 10,000 Sunsets ago).

If you go to Fort Meyers for the day, park by visitors center on opposite side of bridge for free and pay for the trolley over the bridge.

I'd be very hesitant having no reservations. With the winter we are having, campgrounds may be packed.

No danger of getting into Red Coconut this time of year.

Hi, We're in Fort Myers right now. Drove by Red Coconut last week. It's REALLY expensive and full up. State parks and Corps of Engineers have sites available Sun through Thur nights only. We're house sitting and have the camper in storage. Heading home to Seattle next week, probably spend a month on the road seeing the sights. -Mark.

I have walked down to Red's. (Last time down there) It is really cool, but not sure if there will be any spots open. If there is, I will probably stay there a night or two.

We always stay at red Coconut Rv park in Ft Myers. I have two kids so I need a secure place when we camp. (A place they can run around and I don't need to worry about them get run over)

There's no restrictions but it's tight parking. Plus it's peak season right now. Parking is at a premium.

Are there any restriction for parking oversized vehicles on Ft Myers beach? Don't really want to take the camper off for our day trips.

BMW442. The cheap tickets to the Red Sox spring training games are in the $27-29 range. The spring training games in Tucson a few years ago were in the $9-19 range. Guess prices went up since 2010.
