Heat strips in the ac units

Does any one have them? How do you like them? Also they only run off shore power or a gen set correct?

I have them in my Polar Cub 9200. They cost an additional $50 when buying a new unit, about $150 to add later. The heat strip is part of the ceiling assembly. I think they require 1650 watts, which is just under the 1800 watt output of the Honda 2000.

I think it is borderline useless. Although you do get heat, you have lots of fan noise and the wind chill.

I use my small ($35) ceramic heater, if connected to shore power. As stated, a small cube heater (with fan) does a better job and much quieter, in my opinion.

I like the Furance more then heat strip, I'm playing with the idea of selling my tc and my 5'er an buying a horse trailer with LQ , and a lot of the trailers I'm seeing only have a heat strip, does me no good come hunting season or winter for show

I have an a/c heat strip that came with the camper. Used it once, 9 years ago... 'bout as useless as teats on a boar hog. I agree... save some money and warm up faster with a ceramic. Last winter, I saw the Pelonis on sale for $20 at Wallyworld.

I have two of them and they work well for taking the chill off in mild weather.
The thing we like is not having portables sitting around and having the heat through the ductwork.
Yes they will run off of shore power or genset.

They put out approx the same heat as a space heater although usually not as localized.
Its all about volt x amps = watts.
Watts can be converted to show btu's.

My suggestion: check out the various compact heaters at Wal-Mart. Now that "heating season" has arrived, they probably have about 50 to choose from. LOL.

I've considered one, but from what I gather, their heat output is pretty minimal.

Yes they only run off shore power or genset. I installed one many years ago. Save yourself the money and get a couple of cheap ceramic heaters. They will work faster and better.
