Heat while driving?

Just a curiosity question here. Is it feasible to tow with the heat on in a TT? I ask for a couple of reasons:

We have some friends who once had everything inside their TT freeze up, including things in the fridge, while heading down south from Michigan one winter.

There have also been questions, in a similar vein, about running the AC while towing - obviously they were using generators.

My question, truly, is out of curiosity. Is it something that anyone has done, or can conceivably be done?

Thanks gang - I guess I have nothing better to do with my time than to think up stupid questions.
  • We run the heat each winter as we travel in cold temps. I haven't worried about shutting it down while filling either, you can find several threads on this subject if you want.
  • Yes, you can run both the heat or the air conditioning if you want to cool it down before stopping for the night.

  • The furnace may protect the inside of the TT, but the pipes in the bottom, behind walls, under the tub or shower etc. may not be protected at road speed.
  • The TT furnace runs on LP gas and 12 V DC power for just that reason. So it can be used while in motion! Of course you'd want to shut it down while re-fueling the TV for safety reasons. But otherwise no problems.
  • YES you can run the furnace in a trailer while in transit........

Just need to check that floor registers and furnace return are not blocked by slide outs etc.
