Help. Need to locate the Power Conveter in my Jayco trailer

This last trip my son and myself smelled the acid odor of Magic Smoke coming out of an electrical part. We hunted high and low and finally traced it the fuse panel.

While solving that problem it occurred to me that I do not know where the power converter for my '07 Jayco Eagle 288RLS is located. Because it is not below the fuse panel.

So, before getting my chain saw out of the shop to look for it :B
I will ask here. Does anyone know where the power converter for this model is located? And, if they have replaced it, how did they do it?

My luck will be for the first step, remove the oven and...well you get the idea.

Thanks

Bob
  • As the photo provided by RoyB shows, the fuse panel is under the oven on the right wall. The power cord comes in through the rear wall and is stored in a small cabinet that also holds the water pump.

There is an air grill under the refrigerator that feeds the Heater. I did not think that the converter would be in that space, but stranger things have happened on this trailer.

Sunday my son and I plan to pull the fuse panel out to repair a burnt wire that we found while replacing the circuit breakers that were smoking. Son thinks that the interior of the breakers rusted and allowed current to go through instead of closing like they should have.

If the power converter is not behind the fuse panel then I will have to go back to Jayco and ask for information and a diagram.

Thanks to everyone that has tried to help.

If anyone else has information, will like to read it.

  • I would look for an access panel probably with two screws holding it on. That's where mine is located, right behind the access panel, and it's not a very big access panel either.
  • In my Jayco it's right next to the fuse panel under the oven.
  • I know I haven't seen every camper out there but I have had a few Jayco's and every one I have owned the converter is right where the fuse panel is. Look at where your power cord goes in the camper and it should be right around there.

I'm surprised it isn't with this Power Distribution Panel below your Oven shown here in this google photo...

Both the Converter/charger and your battery feed this FUSE PANEL unit..

Most are either installed under the Oven or under the Fridge...

  • It could be located behind the 12v fuse panel. It will either be where the power cord enters the trailer or near the batteries.

Most are packaged with the power leads coming off of a 120v circuit breaker to the converter. Which then powers the 12v fuse distribution panel with leads to the battery for charging and power when not plugged in.
