I'm thinking the above is what happened. Keep your confidence in your abilities to wire up a 7 way. These are not difficult to wire up. If you do happen to get it wrong once, you will not likely get it wrong a second time
Actually they are kinda hard. We have struggled with this on the farm. Some of the directions have you looking at the plug from one end,, other directions have you looking at it from the other. Then they don't do a very good job of describing which way you are suppose to be looking at it. Some plugs use numbers and then give you a sheet to tell you which color of wire you are suppose to stick in there, Others use colors. But, I have found times when the colors are not right on a trailer. Then there are those times when you have to make a repair, or build a extension, and you only have one color of wire to use.
Then of course there are several different types of plugs. There is big round, small round, blade type holes, round holes type, 7 pin, 5 pin, just to name a few.
Sometimes we have to build adapters to go between the different types.
Once we get it wired up and working I say a quick prayer and never touch it again.
