I need some help on this...I recently changed out my 7 way plug on my truck and thought i had everything hooked up right..2014 f150 with tekonsha brake controller...We went to leave for our last trip of season today and the brakes were locked up on the trailer and wouldnt budge...i have no blue wire running from truck to 7 pin so i connected the blue from new 7 way to a white wire bc that was all that was left when i ws hooking up new connector..Instantly thinking I just cut the blue wire so i could go on my trip.only an hour away

I called the shop that put in brake controller and they said it sounds like i wired the blue wire to the white wire instead of the black wire..i guess alot of shops run a black and white from the battery back to the 7 way

I'm thinking the above is what happened. Keep your confidence in your abilities to wire up a 7 way. These are not difficult to wire up. If you do happen to get it wrong once, you will not likely get it wrong a second time

Actually they are kinda hard. We have struggled with this on the farm. Some of the directions have you looking at the plug from one end,, other directions have you looking at it from the other. Then they don't do a very good job of describing which way you are suppose to be looking at it. Some plugs use numbers and then give you a sheet to tell you which color of wire you are suppose to stick in there, Others use colors. But, I have found times when the colors are not right on a trailer. Then there are those times when you have to make a repair, or build a extension, and you only have one color of wire to use.

Then of course there are several different types of plugs. There is big round, small round, blade type holes, round holes type, 7 pin, 5 pin, just to name a few.

Sometimes we have to build adapters to go between the different types.

Once we get it wired up and working I say a quick prayer and never touch it again.

Get a tester for your connector.

Disconnect all the wiring you did and turn it over to a tech.

Go here and wire it up like the diagram.

If your campsite is only an hour away TT brakes aren’t that important? Did I get that right?
