JinD, nice rig. Where'd you go? We're SW of you and already approaching, although not there yet, winterizing temps.
Thank you and you are right, it will soon be time to put our new toy away. We had temps down to 30 a few nights on the trip.
We took it up to Horsetooth Res for the first 9 nights and had 30 amp service. After a dump and fill we headed on up to West lake at Red Feathers Lake area for a walk in spot till Labor Day.
I wouldn't suggest the back way to Red Feathers though, it looks shorter but after following the Canyon on a slow and curvy 2 lane, you turn up 69 that at best is described as as a dirt loggers road. The trucks keep it pounded smooth but it gets extremely steep and has many tight turns one after another. We did see a moose on the way so I guess that made it worth it.
We were on the water by reservation at Horsetooth, Other than Fri and Sat, we had the CG to ourselves. That's good because our 3 schnauzers, Yappy, Yappier and Yappiest don't have to spend their time in the trailer.
It was hotter then heck there, I know records were set in Denver at 99*. We really gave the AC a good workout. You can see my first mod in the picture. ( I'm so proud) It's just a bit of clothes line run through the seem of a queen sheet, it fits perfectly in the awning slot. The coiled tie downs are dog ties and they allow the shade to move in the breeze without stressing the awning.
West Lake and the Red Feathers area is a place to fall in love with. For a walk up spot before the holiday, we had a big Shaded pull through facing the lake and beautiful views of the Mummy range behind us. Even with every spot full over the holiday, it was a quiet CG day and night.
All in all, We gave it a pretty good shake down, tested every feature in regular use, saw all types of weather from scorching heat to below freezing and enough rain storms to know she doesn't leak.
It all works and I didn't break it...I am soooo happy!
I have to add that the Expedition was great too. it had no problem Keeping up with the traffic on 25, ( I know better now) and pulled the back roads with out a sweat.
I'll have plenty of newbie questions as my last TT was a 13 ft Cree. I learned a lot from the trip and this forum is a gold mine of knowledge. The people here seem ready to help if need be. I look forward to participating.
