Hit the scale, how can I be this heavy?

I hit the scale yesterday and pretty surprised by the numbers. I'm over on GVW, rim capacity and tire capacity. Would never have thought I was based on estimates. I thought I was maybe over by a couple hundred, some of the units I see must be crazy overloaded. I've been using it this way for 4 years and it never felt unsafe but now I'm concerned.

Truck: 2012 F350 SRW Diesel, 11,500GVW, tires: 3750x2=7500
Camper: 2013 Adventurer 89RB, published dry weight ~2400lbs

Scale: Front 5,038, Rear 7,700, Total 12,738

Truck GVW is 11,500 with a cargo capacity sticker of 3,492, that would mean the truck empty weighs ~8,008. 12,738 - 8,008 would mean the camper weighs ~4,730.

This just does not seem possible for a non-slide camper. It was in ready-to-camp condition with water but still that's over a ton more than the dry weight. Something here is not making sense, I am not towing and I don't really pack many extras... where would it even go on this small camper.

Just the opposite, 2 pairs of jeans, a couple pair of undies, 2 pair of socks 2 Tee shirts with obscene silk screening on them and a baseball cap. If I run out of clothes, the dirties go in a plastic 5 gallon pail with a lid (also doubles as a hamper), a dash of laundry detergent, couple gallons of clear stream water and a trip on the back of the quad. Back at camp, a quick rinse in the stream and on the laundry line strung between the camper jacks. We live light...

I wear the same pair of shoes unless I'm trekking, then on go the Kenetrec hunting boots.

I am surprised no one is questioning the weight of his diesel truck at 8K. I would weight the truck separate to get the real camper weight.

Everytime I think about being overloaded, I think of Desi and Lucy with their pull behind and Lucy collecting the rocks to take home.....lol That has got to be the zaniest show I've ever seen. I always laugh until I cry.

I typically carry 50-100 lbs of drinking water, juices and other beverages and have not even added on the weight of dry and canned food. Then there is the fresh food in the fridge and freezer...

I wonder what else the OP forgot. Perhaps some of these:
Kitchen - pots, pans, plates, silverware
Panty - canned goods, food
Refrigerator - more food
Books, maps, brochures
Cosmetics, cleaning supplies
Water hose, drain hose, leveling blocks, rope, duct tape, misc hardware
Clothing, boots, bedding, towels
Sporting goods, cameras, binocs, daypacks

A little heavy on the AC. Most roof units are around 100 pounds or less.

Still no BBQ with me. I use a campfire...lol

I am now resolved to the fact that the scale is indeed correct. I took the time to think about the mods and extras I've added to the truck and camper and this number is starting to make more sense. I guess I just discounted each item on it's own but when you break it down it makes sense. I'm thinking many people think the same way I did and don't factor in all these things.

Below is the list of things I added/changed and their estimate of the weight:

front receiver: 50
passengers: 380
tools: 100
tiedowns: 100
Bed mat: 75
bbq: 40
ladder: 40
superhitch: 100
solar panels: 100
AC: 150
Sway Bar 50
-------------------
Total: 1185

Now, I'm surprised it doesn't actually weigh more 😞

Well Jim, I am so I guess I can post it. Mannington, West Virginia to be exact, I'm a hillbilly and proud of it and it's still a West Virginia socket set.

It's not derogatory at all. It's a well known phrase. Even down home people use it....:C
