Hitch ball grease

I always greased mine before every towing session if I had unhooked from the trailer.
If I did unhook, I always wiped the old grease off the ball to get rid of any dirt and to help keep my pants clean.
Used an old can of wheel bearing grease.

I grease the ball every time and clean it off when I unhitch. I use a tube of synthetic grease and use about two small tubes per season.

Any grease will work. This isn't a case where you need some special lube.
I started using Vasoline because it washes out of my pants easier :R

I also grease the ball before each tow. When cleaning the hitch ball also make sure to clean the inside of the hitch coupler there can be quite a build up there.

Am probably going to catch flak for it but I have never used an grease or lube of any kind on any ball hitch of any kind. That included bumper pull and gooseneck hitches. I do clean off the ball if it looks dirty and clean the female side of the hitch assembly but that's all. It seems to me that the grease just attracts dirt. Have never noticed any excessive wear on the hitch components.

I don't use it either. I used to use it but it gets everywhere. I don't notice any difference without it. I used to grease the WD bars but I don't do that any more either. It does make more noise but realistically you couldn't put enough grease on it to keep it quiet anyways. At least not for more than one trip.

I do grease mine at the start of the camping season, but only a small amount. As everyone has said, it just ends up on the clothes. I check it before every hook up and maybe will apply a small amount if need be. As others have said, vaseline works, it just helps with friction.

There was a time when I didn't use it either and then I started getting this tremendous squeak from it with a tent trailer we had. I also saw one that had worn through the top of the female side on a construction trailer (left a piece the size of a quarter in the middle) and didn't like that idea.
Either way it's not the end of the world.

I lube my balls on several trucks. At this time I am experimenting on several different lubrication methods. I will keep you updated
