I just noticed that my Honda generator is putting out 124-125 volts. Is this normal?

9245 will max out that 1000va Honda if the battery is low. No need to measure.
So you will see some drop in voltage as the Honda is loaded up but all looks normal.

That's very normal and acceptable voltage. Most homes have voltage from the power company anywhere from 120 to 125v.
As has been shown, it's within spec.
The power companies have been jacking up the voltage for years trying to get more power thru existing lines. The standard used to be 110v. Then it was 115. Now it's 120. It wouldn't surprise me if they raise it again eventually.
my standard is 122.5, and has been for years.

The voltage on the Honda is exactly where mine is when unloaded.

The best way to measure the amps is to have an amp clamp you can hook to your multi meter. I wouldn't worry about it though. As long as your batteries are charging and your voltage is within spec, you're good to go.

I'm not sure how many amps are going into the battery. How do I figure that out? The trailer has a Progressive Dynamics 9245 converter. I'm going to assume that means 45amps when running flat out. My batteries were not dead, so I would assume that there were far fewer amps being pushed. The generator was basically running at idle speed.

Thanks for the responses so far. I feel better knowing things are as they should be.

125 is normal. It will sag a bit as the load increases.
How many amps are going into the battery?

You had me doing some research on this topic. According to the American National Standard for Electrical Power Systems and Equipment (ANSI C84.1), the acceptable voltage for a 120VAC system is: 114 to 126 Volts.

Your generator is producing voltage which meets the specifications of ANSI C84.1.

Got brave and used a multimeter. It gives the same readings.

One of those voltage meters from Camping World.

Clicky

It seems that the voltage in my house is 123. So, maybe the meter is a bit out?

According to the spec sheet for this unit, the output voltage is 120V, 1000 Watts Max. It does not list any tolerance for this voltage. So, if you're seeing 125 Volts, you are running about about 4% over the rated voltage which is probably okay.

This would be when running just the converter to charge the batteries. Fridge is on propane.

Is this pulling a load or just running?
