I just purchased a host aspen sb. It was one of the east coast deals where I did the best research I could do, but it was purchased having never seen one in person. Just curious if anyone else on this board has one and what your over all opinion of it was. Mine will be going on a 2014 chevy 2500hd. Host told me that adding airbags would be all I need to do for my truck to handle this load. This is the only truck camper I found for a short bed with a dry other than the host chinook so that was the huge selling point for me. This will be my second truck camper with my first being a livin lite 8.5 so I am sure it will take some getting used to with this being so much larger. I am having it shipped to me from arizona to alabama this week and plan on using as soon as it shows up so any input would be great.

Wow that would have to be some 2500HD to haul that beast. That is a beautiful camper but will weigh over 4000lbs when loaded I'm sure.

Wow... Triple slide with 2500 short bed truck.... May I suggest upgrading to 19.5 vision or Rickson wheels and 19.5 tires to start. Base weight states 2995 lbs. Will definatly be over 4000 wet. Great looking TC but even I would be leery with a 2500 and a triple slide with those tank capacities.

It was weighed at 4021. I know it is heavy but truck is rated at 3097lbs and I install 5000 lbs bags. Host said it would work as they have put several on 2500's. There is a YouTube video of a guy with this camper on a older 2500 chevy with bags and it is lifted and said it handled fine. I will find out on Thursday. The dealer I got it from put one on a 2500 dodge with bags and said it did good and it is rated less than my truck.

Congratulations. Looks like an awesome camper.

I'm curious. Have you weighed it? What tires are you running?

I am inclined to agree with the 19.5 tire suggestions. I suspect you may have overloaded your rear tires --- not good when the weather warms up.

Just a heads up to those interested. I have now spent almost a month in the new camper and it couldn't be better. I have been around 2000 miles with it and the truck handles fine. I added bags and stabaloads and have not had any issues. The camper is freaking huge compared to anything else I have been inside including so big long wheel base campers. I had four people in it the other night with no problems. The basement storage is great and having a shower that big is probably my favorite thing about the camper. I would recommend giving one of these a definite look if you are in the market. All I need to do now is add some led floods on the side and she it good to go. I would post pictures of the boat truck and camper together but my iPad is stupid. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well, welcome to the internet or this forum. No one really has control in the direction their original post will travel. The plus here is that there is often someone that has done what you are planning to do, thus the comments. Then you have those that have strong opinions, as well.

It would appear your plans are set and you are working around the issues that many have written about. What would be helpful is for you to share your progress and own opinions upon loading the using your new camper and truck combination. We too look forward to your thoughts and comments.

I have a Host Mammoth, and carry on it a F250. Of course, I get a police escort when I am loaded up, so everyone can know I am coming, and get out of the way. We've had a few problems, but Host has fixed them.

The F250 does great, esp. with the 19.5"/G rated tires and rims (what tire squirm? There is none.)

The original video on Youtube of the Aspen was shown on a *lifted* GMC 2500HD.

Your milage will vary, and how bad you feel it rides is up to you and your driving style, along with any modifications to the truck.
