I find that the velcro strap will come loose nearly every time and allows the door to move and cause damage to the door or woodwork. I was thinking of some type of positive latch so it cannot move. I also think it needs possibly another guide at the bottom to limit movement.
Mine has never come unlatched. I find the Velcro holds pretty well. Mine has about a 2" wide strap. You could add a snap but you'd have to put some spacers under the metal bar on the wall so the snaps would fit under it. That's what I planned on doing if it becomes a problem.
