Hot water question

First thing I would do is check the actual hot water temp. It sounds to me as if you are not getting a typical hot water temp, cause most of the hot water temps I've encounter are extremely high in RV's. Easily 130, and I believe more like 140 as previously mention.

If you want an endless supply of hot water, look for electric "point of use" tank-less options. We often camp with a family of 4 who installed a 20amp (electric) Bosche 4gpm "point of use" unit for less than $200. While they are made for one typical home end point (faucet) and rated for only 4gpm, its the perfect flow rate and temp rise for RV's. They rave about it.

I don't know if this is common in the RV world or not, I never looked. There may be downsides that I am not aware of. I'm years away from actually needing to think about it.

We had a hot water tank that had a mixing valve built in. The claim was it made a 6 gal. act as a 10. The valve failed within 6 months and all we had was lukewarm. The purpose of the valve is to let in a little cold to mix with the hot and if it gets any calcium in it you get too much cold. Ask me how long it took to find that! The valve is at the top of tank at rear and there is a plastic hose that runs down to the cold in at bottom. I crimped the hose with vice grips to try, problem solved! New valve was expensive and we sold trailer 3 years ago, pretty sure vice grips still there Dave

If equipped with a winter bypass kit, make sure the valves are in the correct position.

Ours is a 10 gallon suburban heater, it does get just hot enough on electric. If we heat the water on electric and gas at the same time, it does definitely get hotter. it has been that way since we bought the trailer new. Maybe the suggestion to replace the ECO and thermostat would be the way to go.

CHeck the outdoor shower. The valves may be slightly open which would mix the hot and cold water.

The reason the HWH are set higher than home use is simple; you need to heat less Volume of water to produce more mixed, usable temperature water. With a small reservoir to work with, the higher HW temp makes for a longer shower.

Personally we like the shower set one degree below scalding and are thinking about adding an on demand LP HWH as a pre-heater to the factory HWH.

Ok rig is one year old, We run the shower with no cold water mixed in and it is not hot enough. It has never gotten very hot from the time we purchased it, no blockage in the burner. I would think it would get very hot I am missing something????????

Could it be that if both electric and propane are on, one takes priority and the other is left turned off? I'm still sorta new, but a couple weeks ago we were in a park so I thought I would just use their electricity.

After waiting a while, we still had just barely warm water. I turned off the electric and propane on. The water was hot in minutes.
