- ScottGNomadI believe the 2018 RAM is the same so you may want to hear from those folks as well.
- Grit_dogNavigatorPlease pick a truck already!!!
Or is this not really about buying a truck...... - Grit_dogNavigatorCouldn’t get that $70k deezul for $36k like some of the geezes said you could?
- BeerBrewerExplorerNope the 2019 RAM 1500 is a new truck with much better towing specs, but it does still use the 5.7L engine.

Ram (and Dodge before that) always introduces new models in the 1/2T a year before they release them in the HD line.
So while a few small details may have changed, the 2018 1500 Ram was the "New", 5th generation Ram and had the extra's like Adaptive Cruise, lane assist, etc while the 2018 HD 's did not and were still the 4th gen trucks. - Grit_dogNavigator^ Pretty sure 2018 half ton Rams are 4th Gen trucks. The '19s that have been out for a few months are 5th Gens.
That said, I see places dropping $17-18k off of 2018 Ram 1500s. Like $55k sticker Laramie Eco Diesels for $38k.
Pretty good deals to be had because 2019s are the new trucks. - rv_bill-eExplorerCheck again, Scott. The 2019 1500 is all new.
- srt20ExplorerI test drove a bunch of 2019 Rams last summer when truck shopping. Very impressed.
I ended up buying a F150 primarily because my last 5 trucks were Ram/Dodge. I just wanted something different. But otherwise I probably would have bought the Ram. - JvandererlipExplorerI have a 2019 Laramie with the 5.7 hemi, 3.92 axle and air suspension. I have the panoramic sunroof and 12 display. All these bells and whistles give me a payload of only 1352lbs. It's truly a luxury vehicle. It replaces an Infiniti Qx56. The entire family agrees that the RAM is more comfortable. The comfortable, reclining rear seats were a must for me since I'll have my two teenagers in the back.
I haven't towed yet. It will be towing my 26bh. (dry 5000lbs,gvwr 7000 lbs) With the tongue weight, family of four, 100lb generator and a few bikes I expect to be at or slightly above on my payload. GCVWR is 17,000 lbs and tow rating is over 11,000 lbs so I am well below those.
The 12 inch screen is amazing. Apple carplay, Android auto and the built in navigation all work very well. The Harman Kardon sounds great too. The air suspension is very cool. Came in really handy in a low clearance parking garage. I had to drop it down to entry/exit height to squeeze under some signs. I expect it to be a great tow vehicle. - JvandererlipExplorerOne additional thing to note. Mine came with the factory tow package which includes the brake controller and tow mirrors. (they flip up and are huge) Those tow mirrors delete the 360 degree surround view. If you're going to custom order a truck, you may consider only getting the brake controller and sticking with the original mirrors.
