- ssthrdExplorerNo rush to leave and no rush to get there. We always strive to be at the next campsite by 3PM, and usually leave the last by 9AM. 3 is firm, 9 is always a we'll see....... The distance varies accordingly.
- kennyd63ExplorerTake off between 6 or 7am, and drive 8hrs maybe 9hrs tops no more.. Need time to set up relax, and eat supper. :W
- tnrv_erExplorer IILast trip was 650 miles about 11 1/2hrs.
- RVcircusExplorer IIWe shoot for 300 miles/day, but have done longer. Sometimes, with limited time, we'll keep driving if the kids aren't complaining. The longest we've done towing was 14 hours from south of Asheville to Philly, but that was without kids and also dumb.
- temccarthy1ExplorerI agree with many of the previous posters that you will find 300 miles is about the limit. That is about 6- 6 1/2 hours including gas and rest stops. There is far more strain on the driver pulling a TT than just driving the vehicle when it is not towing a 20-30 ft rig. I have done 400 to 450 and it is exhausting and a strain on the nerves.
- Dennis_SmithExplorerWe use the 330 rule. Drive 330 miles or stop at 3:30 which ever comes first. Its a vacation
- AtleeExplorer IIFor us, it usually 300 miles, more or less. But we're retired and aren't on a strict schedule.

We usually leave about 10. We average 300 miles per day, 6 hours. That usually gets us to the next site between 3 and 4. Leisurely set up in time for cocktail hour. We are retired so we can be easy going.
We are going on 30 days right now. Left NC to Mount Rushmore, then to Yellowstone, then the Oregon coast, then the Redwoods around Crescent City, then Crater Lake, then the Nevada desert near Denio. Right now we are sitting in Elko for a couple of days to do some fossil hunting. Looking to be back home in a couple of weeks.
There are some real tasty Basque Restaurants in Elko. Best omelet I've ever had. Basque Chorizo, fresh Japelenos, onions and cheddar cheese.
We didn't realize that there was a Basque culture in Elko until we were leaving. Definitely our loss as we loved Basque cuisine when we were in Spain a few years ago. - rbpruExplorer IIAfter 6 pages you can see it is a personal choice. Probably more closer to 300 than 500 miles per day. If you have to or want to, more is doable; many just take it easy if they can.
- Opie431ExplorerWe travel about one hour after I suggest to my husband that it is time to stop.
That is when we do not have a planned destination.
