I have a 2014 ram 2500 crew cab 6.4 hemi and the rear air suspension. I think it rides about the same as my previous 2011 ford expedition el. It's probably ten times better than the 09 ram 2500 that I had before the expedition.

Very true about slipping the tires! The open diff on the 98 was not too bad with only one wheel slipping but at 300K I changed to a locking rear then it was SCARY.

I have always ran my pressures based on load, maybe that is why I easily get 100K and more out of a set of Michelin or BFG's. Maybe those people know something that make those weight/inflation charts.:B

500,000 lb train engines have coil springs and they ride like they are on steel rails...

Some leaf sprung half ton SUVs ride like a 'car'...

Out of context is that without their spring rates and the obligatory curve (spring
deflection vs pounds) is comparing apples to oranges

Most don't understand that a coil spring is a torsion bar spring...coiled instead
of straight, but they work the same in both cases

Airing down the tires will reduce the GVWR? If that was the case, then airing
down a freight liner enough...will it become a half ton?

Or conversely...if airing up a half ton enough, will it become a freight liner?
Most likely the 'P' class tires will pop before attaining that kind of rating

Now if talking about airing down an air spring, then that goes back to the
first paragraph...the spring rate vs deflection...



It is NOT just the type of springs, but the whole suspension engineered
for whatever specification

This includes the shocks, bushings (main durometer & thickness), etc

Even the control arm's length and the unsprung weight that, that
contributes to...or works with

Bought a 2500 CTD CC short bed 4X4 in June. Had a 2012 Ram 1500 CC 2WD. I love the new truck, my wife thinks it rides better than the 1500. I know it is a bit rougher, but very comfortable.
