How much wind is too much?

i just slow down. If it gets too bad I find a place to pull off with my head or tail into the wind. After all you do have a house with you.

Yup, must have been the same wind I was getting away from. I was camping near Okoboji, IA.

This current cold front has a real steep gradient. Winds at my place were 30 mph all day yesterday and it is now 20 mph and gusting.

The worst wind issues I see on the road are steady windless travel and then a gust where a barrier exists like an elevated crossing roadway and the wind funnels around. I'm sure many have tightened the grip on the wheel when encountering something like this.

BTW, this current cold front has dropped our temps about 15-20f. I'd be surprised if Momma doesn't turn on the S&B furnace tonight.

On a tip from a fellow camper, prior to a trip west, I installed a second anti sway set up on our 26' TT. It is a great help, but I did chicken out in southern Utah (Grand Staircase Escalante) when I drove north from Bryce Canyon to Torrey. The forecast was for high gusting winds. The (northbound) high road took us out on a fin that was several hundred feet down on either side of the road. Fortunately, we drove that route the day before, with just our truck, while searching for an acceptable spot for boondocking, so I knew what to expect. We decided on the road a few miles to the west that traversed the valley. Turned out to be a nice drive.
White knuckle driving is very tiring.

Yep, We stayed put for today. Consistent 30 mph winds and gusts that were likely 50 mph.

It would have not been a fun day of driving

"A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS
OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE".

The key thing often is not the steady wind but gusts.

I would stop at 35-40 but never got to that. Worse I got was 30mph side winds and I drove at 40-45mph.
