I have a 25', 1992 Airstream Trailer with a smell we think is from mold. The smell seems to come from below the sink area in the kitchen and bathroom. The smell is worse when it is damp. Any suggestions for this problem or how to eliminate mold and the smell. Also we have a parrot that travels with us so any suggestion should be "parrot safe" Thanks for your help. LCP

Biocide will kill all odors. Also a similar product in marine store.

Meanwhile, as soon as your weather is good, open up everything...cabinets, everything and get some air in there.

We love Odorban - when you have 5 doggies, and up to as many as 10 at once, you learn about things like this, but to the best of my knowledge it does nothing for mold. Odors, yes. It has a sort of eucalyptus fragrance. Sam's - just under $10 a gallon and it doesn't take much to do the job.

Bleach will kill the mold and as long as you keep everything opened up until it's dry and the bleach odor is gone, I can't see it hurting pets.....we all use bleach to sanitize our water systems, right?

Is this mold/mildew a new problem? Gotta find the source first, then fix that. Then the bleach and a spray bottle with the recommended dilution of Odorban should fix you right up.

dockmasterdave, thank you ... I agree with you, I learned from years working with Servpro and Industrial Hygenist that we worked side by side with, it is best to approach properly. Sporicidin is what was used on mold remediation after the dampness, leak, however the water is making it's way to the problem areas, and repairs have been completed.

The first step is to prevent the moisture from getting in. Otherwise all actions are only a temporary fix. Mold needs only 2 things to live, 1 moisture and 2 a natural food source. It has plenty of food, deny it the water.

Bleach might be a bit strong for you. I use isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle...kills the mold and dries out the object or material, provided the source of wetness is addressed. Won't stain and shouldn't harm much of anything. I used it for years as a LEO wearing a bullet-resistant vest on patrol duty. Sprayed the body side of the panels every night I took it off, put it in the locker, next day no body odor, no sweat smell, no mold, dry, and didn't fade the cotton panel carriers. Kinda smells like a Frenchy you-know-what when first sprayed on, but that completely dissipates.

Bleach will kill mold however, the thing that is dangerous is not the mold, it is the waste product from the mold. Bleach does nothing for this. Only cleaning or removing the affected materials will get rid of this. And YES, I do, have a state mold remediation license, so this is not guess work. Don't risk your families health just spraying bleach on it, because someone says it used to work. Get the mold out and fix the leak or you are still breathing mold, period. If you still have questions I can send you the federal guidelines and papers from the center for disease control. PM me

Bleach absolutely kills any kind of mold it comes in contact with but it does have to come in contact with it. (just about ANY mold killing product you buy will be loaded with bleach and maybe TSP)
I have found that with repeated applications it will kill mold in wood but you have to keep it applying it until the mold is gone. I have had excellent result this way even with very deep, black mildew.

Killing mold with bleach.

You need to dry it out first and figure out where the moisture is coming from. Otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels. HD or Lowes has a product called Concrobium that works if you get rid of the moisture. Bleach will not kill mold or mildew, besides just being nasty to work with in a small space.
Good luck.
