humbled on the hill

On the weekend I was heading up a nice little hill, in the fast lane, just minding my own business when I noticed this little F150 pulling a Kustom Koach in my sideview mirror. "He looks like he's got in mind to pass me" I thought, so I pushed the skinny pedal to the floor to show him what a diesel will do. ;) Well,,,,nothing happened, my truck just stayed right at 2000 rpm and 50 mph and that little F150 blew by me at about 70mph. Fortunately the speed limit was only 50 mph so he likely doesn't know the extent of my shame.

    sure sign you're getting older: you are "drag racing" your RV up a hill. LOL, yup I too am guilty.

    No grade on the Interstate system is above 9%. However Canton Av in Pittsburgh Pa is 37%. Do not try that with your home attached!!

    I like my C2500 with a vortec 350! It pulls my 12K equipment trailer better than I thought it would. 6-8K lbs is better than some older BB V8's I had with higher ratings no less too! Then again, the V350 has more HP than those POJ 454 V8's had too!, only 30-40 lb ft of torque short! SO engine size is also not an end all be all of how well you will or will not go up a hill to fetch a pail of water!

    On the other hand, if it happened just like you said, why didn't you just stay in the right lane and go up the hill a little slower and a little more comfortably?

    Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, having never driven a Ford V-10...going up a hill in the burb never produces that kind of noise and/or stress.


    Pulling a long grade on a hot day, the cooling fan on a V10 is extremely loud!
