Hybrids going by the wayside?

Does it seem like Hybrids might be going to the wayside? I been looking for a NEW Hybrid and seem to find only 3 manufactures that make 1 to 2 models only with a slide. Coleman (Coleman RV CTE236) and Aerolite (Aerolite 204ES), Kodiak (216ES and 206ES).

So many Travel Trailer but few choices in Hybrids with slides.
I feel Hybrids with slides actually have more "living space" than Travel Trailers because the bed area do not eat up the "living Space" square footage space. When compared to the shorter trailer length of Hybrids with it counterpart travel trailer of approx. the same length you cant beat a Hybrid.
I've done so much with so little for so long, I'm now qualified to do anything with nothing.

I was the only hybrid camping at Lake Wallenpaupack's PPL Wilsonville campground over Labor Day Weekend. Read between lines. Unlimited hp lake, what would you see? Class C and Class A launching boats. Tons of seasonal TT on water/electric only, honey wagon dragged by tractor, and majority of TT owners were of course boat owners as well. Cheap cabin on the unlimited hp lake and hybrids are not ideal for seasonal use. I was outnumbered by 3 pups. I dragged my boat up there with my other truck, and could not get the outboard to run. Boating fail, oh well.

I was off the grid over the weekend at a PA state park. One tt. 3 hybrid, 3 pup, 100 tents.

Went on a trip to Indiana Dunes State Park and saw many different campers but as usually, very few hybrids. Indiana Dunes State Park is right next to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Side note, be careful as there are some sink holes in the National park. This one made national news.

What I did see was a bunch of small trailers including the fiberglass clam shell campers, R-Pods, tear drops, and motorcycle folding campers.

Of course a bunch of new 5th wheels and motorhomes. Saw many new larger fiberglass laminated travel trailers with slides as well. Saw many older Pop Ups, but only a handful of newer Pop Ups.

Also saw many, many tents.

What I saw in the majority was larger Stick and tin slideless travel trailers. Didn't see but one older fiberglass travel trailer.

As usual, the Dunes State Park was packed. Even though we were lucky enough to get a spot with only an 8 month reservation, it was probably the smallest site around there, but we made do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not sure what the OP is talking about. Hybrid trailers are all the rage right now. Popup owners are trading up to HTT and Trailer owners are trading down. In the CG's im seeing less and less TT's and more HTT's. Popups too. When we went shopping for our Coachmen HTT I didnt even know Coachmen had a line of HTT. Turns out there are a lot of manufacturers making HTT. Ours was literally on the lot for 2 hours after it was delivered to the dealer before we bought it. They were just taking pics of it to put it online. The pics never made it to the website. ๐Ÿ™‚

I would not want an ultra light 30ft plus bunkhouse variant. The scare the flimsy******out of me too. I want a stick and tin tank of a bunkhouse with at least 80/60/40 tanks. Hybrids are 36/30/30

Mikeup, back in 2008 there were body on frame mid size SUV. Present day, you have one: the 4runner.

tow ratings have tanked, and CUV are bloated sedans and wagons. Zero offroad ability!

I agree, the Ford Explorer and Sport Trac were killed off for a large short wagon on a unibody, oddly still called an Explorer. Ranger also killed off with no replacement.

Dodge, the Durango and Dakota were killed off, but there is a large unibody station wagon replacement oddly called a Durango still??!!!

I believe the Chevy Trailblazer was killed but I'm anti-GM anyhow I don't follow them.

The Frontier based Pathfinder was killed off for a unibody station wagon replacement oddly still called a Pathfinder.

Honda, did they ever build anything that wasn't a unibody car underneith as the Pilot and Ridgeline?? Guess not, guess that's why I have no use for Honda. ๐Ÿ™‚

I guess now with everything limited to 5000 lbs tow rating and 500 lbs tongue rating, you better build some super ultralight travel trailers. So they did. Now they're on the lots, they're taking space that once went to hybrids and pop ups.

The ultralights are out there! I have seen some extremely shady cuv towing some of them. Total disregard for there 3500lb tow ratings. I am not talking about the mid size bloated waistlines from Detroit, but the Korean variants. I even saw a Subaru outback towing a full height trailer and almost crapped my pants.

You need a 30 foot camper to replicate a 21 to 23ft htt. Some do not have the storage space, favorite state parks sites, and other issues. These parameters created bed slide phenoms like the Outback. They are not going anywhere, and neither are the best of hybrids. Pups.....DEAD!
