I gave up using bar soap a few years ago due to the mess it can create after is sits in a soap dish or a damp hidey-hole in the shower. gooey soap, nasty.

True, at least 25% of it is wasted also as it gets too small to hold.

I take all soap wrappers off as soon as I get home. Keep it in a basket and it dries out. Lathers up exactly the same, but never gooey and soft. Been doing this for years with success.
