I'm curios about the 6.7.

Been sitting here in my 5th wheel today while it's raining outside.

I've been seeing some 2007 Dodge trucks for sale. Some have the 5.9 and some have the 6.7. If you were buying one, which would it be? The 5.9 or the6.7? Have you heard of any consistent problems with either one?

Not that I would ever consider changing brands.:W

The 5.9 is a lot less complicated with a lot less emissions equipment. The 03 - 07 5.9 is one of the more sought after diesels.

In my mind, the biggest disadvantage is that it only has a 4 speed auto (that is more than capeable, but will run higher RPMs since it has two fewer gears). The other disadvantage is if you need the back seat, unless you get a MegaCab, they are a lot tighter than competitor crew cabs.

Dodge/RAM made a huge improvement to the trucks when they went to the 2010 body style IMO.

Now we can sit back and wait for our Fish(ing) friend to come and throw stones from what his "cousin" sees in the shop, or what he has heard from his sister in law's boyfriend's nephew's dog groomer.......

I ordered my 2007 at end of 2006 so I could get the 5.9L as it was a proven reliable platform......never want to be 1st year guinea pig for new engine/controls.
We were going FT and I didn't need that worry or headache.....same reason I didn't go with a FORD at that time

The 6.7L went thru some 'learning curves' (software programing) and some turbo/variable vane exhaust braking issues. Replacements and cleaning ports installed along with operating procedure changes (leaving EB ON all time)
Were among issues I heard/read about.

In time the 6.7L has gained in popularity and reliability.

Still would go with my 5.9L :B
Is it time for your medication or mine?
