I want a second RV, either a Nash 17k or a 22H

I have the 22h and am in love with it. I camp with 3 dogs. So, even though it's just me, the extra space inside is nice. For me, the sofa is a more comfortable place to hang out in lousy weather than the dinette is.

I do wish that front storage was pass-thru, though!

May 2018 rolls around, and the 17k was still on CL. It was a 2015 model (with those !%(^&*@ mini blinds I said I hated back in 2015) I emailed the seller. It took him almost a week to reply. He still had it. I was heading to Chelan for a camping trip soon, so before I departed I called and talked to him and made arrangements to see it.

He was 90 years old. He only used it a few times. He was selling it at the urging of his adult children who didn't like the idea of him traveling due to his age. (I can totally relate to this and am starting to have the same concern for my parents due their age, failing eyesight, inability to climb steps, etc.)

It was in very good condition other than a few scuff marks from tree branches on the exterior, tree debris all over the roof and jammed in the gutters / downspouts, and cobwebs. It still smelled new inside. He said it had only been used twice, but the paint / powdercoat worn off to bare metal on the heat vents in the floor made me skeptical of the "2 usage" claim. Everything else supported his "only used twice" claim.

It was too good of a deal to pass up, so I bought it. The benefit: lower cost, allowing me to pay cash and not have a LOAN hanging over my head.

Part of my issue with buying stuff recently is that at some later date I decide there's a more useful purpose for the money that I'm paying out for a loan, so I sell something, then buy something else which seems to be a more important item to own. I forgot to mention that when I sold the 17BH, I bought a Polaris RZR. Guess what... sold it 6 months later. I had fun with it, but I have too many motorized toys to maintain.

The Nash is something I hope to keep for a while, since it's fully paid for.

I like the shorter length compared to some of the other RVs I looked at. Slideouts are nice, but in my idea of lighter weight, a non slide model kept looking more appealing.

The 20RD is slightly longer than a Nash 17k. The 20RD has a rear entry door and front walk around bed. The rear entry made it feel roomier than the 17k.
The 17k has a full 60x80 queen bed, but it's an east-west bed. The entry door is up front between the kitchen and bed area.

The 17k, like most (maybe all) Nash models as they can accommodate a generator. They are either gen ready, or can be ordered with a generator. In 2015, the Nash 17k I tried to buy was either gen ready, or had a generator (I can't remember which).

Since I was still having cold feet about another loan, I started scanning RVTrader and Craigslist. Very few used ORV units came up. Once in a while I stumbled across a Nash 17k, and even found an Nash 18L local to me, but it was way over priced.

One of the 17K's I saw was in Chelan, WA but I still had my sights set on a Blackrock or Creekside at that point.

By Later April I decided on a 21RBS at Thompson RV and did the loan stuff at a local credit union I had worked with before.
They approved me.... then changed their mind a few days later. Well, that was annoying, so I gave up and turned off SOS (shiney object syndrome) and tried to stop thinking about RVs.

Not thinking about them lasted about a week, then I started daydreaming about them again.
I saw someone that had swapped out the small table in a Blackrock 20RD for a table from a different model Blackrock (by ordering the table through their dealer) and decided I could do the 20RD with the upgraded table option.

...but in the back of my mind I was still getting cold feet from the thought of having loan payments.

...I still had a hankering for another towable RV but I was trying not to spend money!

There are so many different trips I'd like to do that would be more suitable to me if done in a truck/trailer instead of the rig in my signature.

A friend put the bug in me about another towable when he started getting hit with "SOS" (shiney object syndrome) in February of this year.

That gave me a serious case of SOS. We both were interested in the Blackrock 20RD, until he showed me the Creekside 21RBS.

I ended up being the research guy since I work not too far from the local Northwood / ORV dealer. I tromped around in the snow looking at RVs. Then the snow melted, then it snowed again, and melted, and froze in to nasty ice at the dealer.
I got so fed up with the snow, I made a road trip 4 hours away, and visited Thompson RV (where I bought my 22H) in late February during their open house. It was a last minute idea to go there, and a relief from fresh snow fall in Spokane, and warm weather down south.

All the models I was interested in were on display at Thompson, and I didn't have to freeze and slip on ice to look at them!

The 18RBS looked tempting. It was a shortened version of the 21RBS.
The price of the 20RD kept prying at me though... but the small table at the U-shaped dinette was a bit small for spreading out my junk and using it as a desk.

I had looked at the Blackrock 18DB a lot too, it was the same layout as the discontinued Nash 18L. Eventually I realized the corner bed on the 18L would be annoying.

In August 2016 another tow vehicle fell in to my lap when my neighbor's house buyer decided he wasn't going to buy the plow truck along with the house, so I bought the truck. For cheap.
Another truck meant "I need another RV to go with said truck" LOL!!!

I decided to get something small and light, and short, so I could go off the beaten path. I looked at all of the small lightweight trailers all over the area. I settled on a Viking 17BH since feature wise, it offered the most.

I took a few trips with it. It wasn't very well insulated and didn't have thermal pane windows. Thins wall meant it didn't block out outside noise very well. It was a summertime only RV since the tanks were not enclosed in the underbelly. Aside from those items, I liked it.

In mid 2017 I decided the money I was using to make payments on it would be put to better use on a daily driver vehicle more suitable than the 1991 Chevy K2500 gas hog that I bought from my neighbor (described above). The truck cost me a small fortune on several repairs, and the gas bill was ruining my freedom due to the cost of driving it. I sold the 17BH in August and the truck was sent packing in November just prior to snow plow season. It had a plow on it, and I made a small fortune selling it, recouping a good portion of the repairs I put in to it.

Yep, I eventually buy a new daily driver, a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. I picked it up in September 2017. I still have it.

The day before the job interview I hauled home a 22H from Thompson RV in Pendleton, OR.

A few months later I kicked myself for buying, because going back to work full time really was going to limit my opportunities to use the 22H.

The RV haul I mentioned above was my last run from Pendleton to Spokane/Post Falls due to getting a real job once again. I started the job on 10/5/15.

The weekend prior to starting the job, I made a whirlwind trip to Yellowstone with the Nash 22H. That was the one and only trip.

Considering how late in the season it was, the park was surprisingly busy. The park had started winterizing and closing up part of the visitor facilities. West Yellowstone KOA closed up the morning I left. They said the mild weather had kept the people coming, and they were way behind with their winterization projects.

In November 2015, I put the 22H up for sale. I eventually sold it in early July of 2016. One thing I remember thinking during the time I owned it, is that it was more RV than a single person needed. SOFA was why I bought it instead of the 17K.... but in reality, if the weather is good, I'm outside. If it's bad, I'm doing stuff on my laptop, at the dinette.

I looked at a used 19b. Nice size, but no permanent bed unless you left the sofa folded down to a bed all the time.

The one I looked at had been used a lot, and put away wet. It smelled kind of musty inside.

I guess I should go to bed.... I need to get up at OH DARK THIRTY tomorrow for another RV haul. Maybe I will stop by the dealer in Pendleton, Oregon.
