Insurance Advice

2010 Jayco (in signature) got hammered with hail. Three out of four sides look like a golf ball. All roof vents are broken or cracked with some water intrusion. Both tail lights are broken and the LP cover looks like Swiss cheese. Some of the hail damage took off paint with several dents nearly gashing through the siding. Rubber roof looks peppered, but intact.

I have title in hand and comprehensive coverage. From what I could find, the aluminum siding might be expensive to replace and therefore might cause the trailer to be totaled.

Adjuster should contact me in less than 48 hours, but just wanted to be prepared for some potential outcomes.

    Sounds like you have it well in hand.
    Just don't settle for less than you think.
    Get other estimates if need be.

    look on the net see what its worth, they,ll try a low ball, or you might get a honest adjuster. just a rumour they get a kick back on what they can save the company.

    According to my policy if it's totaled, then trailers over 4 years old like mine would be paid out for purchase price, less deductible. So it appears it's a "hard number" for the value determination. I'm just not sure how much it would cost to replace 3/4 of the siding on a unit like mine.

    The first thing for you to do is read your policy and seek outside advice if necessary to be sure you totally understand what your insurance company is obligated to do. The next thing is for you to make the insurance company live up to their obligation as specified in your policy.

    The first thing to do is hear the adjuster out ! Adjusters are just people . Some insurance companies have in house adjusters , some hire outside contractors . I have done jobs for companies that I have never heard off . We just punch numbers and pictures into a laptop and send it to Omaha or Oshkosh . Give the insurance company a chance . Your trailer will be totaled , they are not going to skin it and roof it . Why do many people assume all adjusters , all lawyers , all police , everybody except them selves are crooks !
