Is floor flex normal?

Glad I found my first post about this. Now it is a full blown problem with cracked linoleum and floor too mushy to use. In Jaycoowners.com I've posted extensively about what to do. Though I have not started and may surprise me, there is no work around to the sandwich floor construction without joists. It does not appear repairable without spending more than the camper is worth or adding maybe 50 lbs of weight.

I had similar incident just as you enter my front door of my POPUP. In my case it was poor design as after a good inspection I did not find any water damage to the floor. It just needed more support... It apparently didn't like my 250lb stomping boots.

I added an additional angle metal support under the floor in that area to solve the slight give when it was stepped on. Trailers with under-belly membrane would make this a more difficult task to repair.

My vinyl floor looked just fine, but it sure had a water issue. Maybe I caught it before it would have done so, but the plywood was certainly black

When we had our Jayco the steps kept getting loose and bouncy, one of bolts kept coming loose that attached it to the bottom of the trailer. After tightening several times we took a better look. When they bolted the step on, they put the bolt trough the waterproof membrane. Every time we drove through a puddle, the water splashed up and seeped under the membrane. Eventually the floor inside the door got mushy. What a nightmare, had to replace that part of the floor and install a new membrane. Moral of this story, check the step bolts!

Sounds like water damage to me. Whoever fixes the floor make sure the problem is corrected that caused it to start with. I had a similar situation a year ago and my insurance company paid the entire cost as I opted for a policy that had no detectable. Good luck.

My trailer floor is a sandwich of 1/4" plywood with 1 1/2" Styrofoam in between. The lower plywood got wet and separated from the Styrofoam it was glued to. This left the floor springy where it once felt solid. Glued under the bottom plywood there is/was a black Tyvek covering glued to the lower which is what one sees if you look under the trailer. I could see and feel the Tyvek hanging down in the soft area when compared the the rest of the trailer. Your's may or may not be the same but it's one way of checking. And the floors CAN be repaired, it's pricey and you have to find a shop willing to do it.

If the floor is shot an good option is calling it in to your insurer, I wish I had.

I would have to drop the fresh water tank either weld or bolt in a cross member, which it needs. Don't think I'd trust JB Weld to hold it in place. If it broke loose on the highway it could be a big problem.
