Jayco's new trailer line up

Jayco just brought out a new true 3 slide trailer. It's 39 feet long- has a residential king size bed option- residential tub/sit down shower- 3 exterior storage areas- hidden propane tanks- washer/dryer prep and 50 Amp service.

It's called the Eagle Premiere Model 338RETS. Really nice looking trailer.

You have a sharp eye for details. I never gave it much concern until you pointed it out.
On top of that the yellow sticker says a full load of water drops another 697 pounds which leaves you with only 555# of weight left. That's nothing!!!
Now subtract all the bedding- clothes- dishes- pots & pans- silverware- can goods- food stuff- full frig- cleaning supplies- RV extra's and you're overweight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what goducks posted with the picture of the yellow sticker, shows a reduction of half of the carrying capacity when options are added. This is my big concern in looking for a TT for full time. Web specs show 2360, but yellow sticker on this unit is 1250, a huge drop. I am sure this is because the one pictured has solid surface countertops, two A/C's, two hide a beds, and other options added. It does not have the one that would lead me to pick this TT and that is the washer/dryer. Add that and carrying capacity is under 1000 lbs.. not enough to outfit this large a trailer and live full time in it. I really was thinking I wanted a TT to full time in, but these type numbers are making me think it isn't going to be possible.

I have to eat a little crow here. All through this thread I’ve been thinking (and saying) we looked at a 2013, 338RETS which is one of Jayco’s Eagle Premier line. I could have sworn we looked at this unit (in fact I did swear it).

So…after about a week of debate with better half she was able to set me straight (which she often does). The unit we looked at last year was the 2013, 33RLDS from the Jay Flight line.

The floor plans are similar in the living room area but the bedrooms are different. And then there’s that small thing about the exteriors being completely different. (Don’t know how I missed that one)

In my defense….I left a lot of brain cells in the late 60s and early 70s and I AM getting old (at least that’s what she told me)

I hate to keep bugging you Jim, but do you think the difference in the way the two pulled is the inherent difference between a 5er and a TT?

I think it's the 5er / TT thing that feels different. The TH I traded in on our 338RETS weighs about the same as the new trailer (+/- 250lbs) and I towed the two of them back to back within a few hours of each other and I think they felt pretty much the same, just a bit longer.

I'm sorry but I don't have a picture of my yellow sticker handy but if I recall correctly our rig scaled out at 94XXlbs or so. The cover went on it on Saturday and on Sunday 6" of white fluffy stuff went on top of the cover with another forecasted 2" to 5" more comming later today.

understood, that is the way rigs with multiple gray tanks are usually plumbed .... with our 5er, the galley tank handles the kitchen sink and the other gray tank handles the shower/bathroom sink/washer .... we checked by running water from all faucets and they emptied through the same gray tank .... the fellow who owns the 338 then dropped enough of the underbelly to eyeball the plumbing .... personally, I think it is a mistake and do hope they correct itJim

Let's hope it's a mistake and Jayco will correct it.
Personally I don't see any need for a washer/dryer hook up in a trailer. We've camped all over the U.S. and Eastern half of Canada and local Laundromats have worked fine for us. Realize others may differ but to me it's wasted space in a trailer.
Checked out the above website's price list and even with a 30% off of MSRP when you add in local sales tax & plates the monster is over $35,000 for a trailer loaded.... That's quite a bit for a trailer. Though Lord knows I love that floorplan.

Are you sure it's not a 338RLTS? I was wanting to look at the floor plan and can't find a 338RETS.

Never mind I found it, I was looking in 5th wheels, the model you mention is a travel trailer, my mistake.

On our 2007 Jayco Eagle 322FKS we had 1 fresh water tank, 1 black water tank and 2 grey tanks. One was for the kitchen and the other was for the bathroom/shower.

Just suggesting.

I've really been impressed with Jayco's Eagle Premiere Model 338RETS.... the older I get the less I like steps and the 338 is the only camper I've seen that I'd consider if/when we should get away from towing a 5er .... you don't see many TT's these days that are setup for a washer/dryer (single combo unit) .... one thing they do need to correct it their gray tank plumbing .... in their specs they say it has a gray waste water capacity of 65 gallons in its 2(roughly equal size)gray tanks .... the problem is one those tanks is strictly for the washer and the other is for everything else .... while that may be fine for camping with full hookups one would sure run out of gray capacity in a hurry when camping without them .... given the fact that many if not most will never have a washer installed, one of the two gray tanks would never be used .... while there is a country boy way around it, to me that is a design flaw ....
