Jensen Wall Mount Stereo issues

Hello all, We bought our 2013 Eagle Cap TC last April, new, first owners. All was good until mid June when the Jensen wall mount AM/FM/CD/DVD/USB model AMW975 stereo started coming on all by itself...it would turn on in the middle of the night and would continue to do so from that point on. We checked out the owners manual for clues, checked to see if an alarm or timer was set, nothing. It got so bad I had to pull the fuse. I reported the issue to my dealer who promptly had it replaced with a new stereo, same model number as the original directly from Jensen. I actually saw the new stereo being installed at the dealer when I stopped by to check on the status, this all took place in September. Now, while my TC is in winter storage beside my garage, I go out to take the trash out and the stereo is blaring through the outside speakers...I turn it off, check an hour later and its on again...and again this morning. So I'm pulling the fuse. Has anyone gone through this or have any suggestions? Merry Christmas and happy new Year every one. :?

I was considering this unit to replace the original radio in my 1999 Jayco. If these are no good what are the alternatives? I don't want a car radio as I want easy to change zones on the unit like an RV radio has. Also want a DVD player to out put to the TV.

You can usually change the speakers by the balance or fade function. Lots of them have dvd players built in.

I purchased a cheap Sony dvd player, I think it was about $60. It has an external 12v power supply so I converted it to run on 12v. Now my entire tv/blue-ray system is 12v and I don't use the installed unit at all. I can now also play my blu-rays.

I need the easy of just hitting A, B, or C for the wife and kid. Can't be going into a bunch of menus and stuff to get it done.

I don't know where your radio is, but I bump mine at night sometimes and turn it on. I turn the volume down at night.

My suspicion is that it's related to a fluctuation in battery power. My unit only starts up by itself when the batteries are being charged via the inverter. I wired in a cutoff switch so I could isolate it, which worked fine. A few months later the volume button stopped working - we can still adjust the volume with the remote - but I think the lesson is that these are not very reliable units. Good luck with the reset!

I would like to first verify that the Alarm is not set and causing the stereo to turn on. If the Alarm is set, the word ALARM would be shown on the display. Second, I would like you to try and reset the AWM970. There is a small reset button located just above the Dolby Digital symbol at the bottom left hand corner of the faceplate. Take a pen or paper clip and gently press the reset button for about 5 seconds then release.

Thanks for this post, this is the exact same number I called and received the guidance I posted above. But I will try the reset button just to see what happens.

My Jenson in my 2008 Lance worked flawlessly until a few months ago, and it is doing the same thing yours does. It just turns on by itself whenever it wants. I left it AUX mode so it would just sit there when it turns on instead of cycling the DVD or playing the radio. I was going to buy a newer one but bought a 12V TV/DVD LED combo and disconnected the power to the Jensen. However, I can't run the (2) camper speakers anymore with just the TV/DVD combo.

The whole thing is really odd, this is the second brand new unit that starts this after a few months, this current one has sat from September until December without an issue and then all of a sudden it starts.

Jensen - I think that might mean Swedish for JUNK. That deck and likely the speakers are bottom of the line. I would replace it and speakers with better quality. Every time I turn my battery switch on, the stereo comes on and the outside speakers come on too. Very annoying.

My 2007 Jensen unit doesn't have that issue.... yet! How irritating that must be! I guess I still don't understand how it's the camper mfg. fault though... either the power is live to it and the on off works or not?... I'm confused..

I wasn't expecting a lot from my Jensen, but to my surprise it lasted all year with moderate use. I plan on replacing it with a car deck as above, that is a nice install. I think I may try that inline switch idea though, the light it gives off even on dim bothers me when trying to sleep.

My issue is with the POS remote for the TV - stopped working after only a few uses. (batteries are good) (sigh)

I pulled my Jensen out and Installed a double din unit. I had a local sign company make a plastic piece with the white line around it to match the other one. Looks factory...plays DVD's and has Pandora. Now the factory speakers are having issues with the new wattage.

Wow - that is one first-class install!
