Just About Done: 1987 Palomino Hard-side Restore

Bought this about 5 years ago from the original owners, an older couple that used it only 4 times. Brought it home and stored it until the work I started a few months ago.
The plastic was still on the stainless steel stove. The tires still have the nubs. The underneath looks like new. Still has a folder with the sales brochure and all manuals and paperwork. Sweet!
The only issue was dry rot along the edge of the roof. Well, that is all repaired, I installed an electric water pump, changed the LP/12-volt fridge out with a 3-way, installed a digital thermostat on the furnace, a Fantastic roof vent, installed an inverter, flat panel TV and am just about ready for the first trip.

Being somewhat of a perfectionist, I replaced the fender skirts and all of the other exterior plastic pieces that had yellowed with new pieces. Even removed the hinges from the folding walls and refinished them. Looks pretty good if I say so myself.

Will post pictures of the transformation soon.
  • I'd replace the tires, even if they look new. They probably have dry rot by now.
  • Up-Date.
30-watt solar panel with digital read-out controller, done.
    USB/12-volt outlet, done.
    LED running lights, done.
All seams, new exterior lighting and new fridge vents all sealed.
    Go-power inverter, done
Flat panel 12-volt TV with a articulating mount with an inside and outside bracket, done.
12-Volt Winegard amplifier/outlet for Jack antenna, done.
All interior lighting changed out to LED, done.
Installed an outside access door so an inside cabinet can be accessed outside, done.

Remaining is the change-out of the fixed three burner stove to a new Magic Chef three burner that can be used inside or outside and to mount the small Stor-Mor pod on the roof.

Found a great storage space in a small, secure lot with only 10 spaces for $50.00/mo. It is one block from the beach and a short walk to a great pub with good beer and pizza. Have stayed overnight a few times and plan to do that some more. My own little Man Cave.

And yes, those promised pictures are coming. Really.

Haven't used it at all, yet. We recently sold our 32' Springdale travel trailer that we were using. Wife won't go back to a pop-up so it will be my toy for week-end get aways.

Everything in it works as it did the day it left the factory. As I mentioned, the only issue was some dry-rot in the roof. The affected piece has been replaced.
