Just back from California with new truck and fiver

We just back this past week from a 3550 mile roundtrip to Yosemite. I have to say the new F350 was amazing. That truck has so much get up and go. Even going up those long long winding roads it held whatever speed I wanted. I cannot believe how easy it towed the whole way. Never and issue, no sways, plenty of power. The wind blew very hard from the south on occasion and I felt it, but it never affected my pulling. I pull a 41' fifth wheel and it performed quite well also.

Except for the front gray tank valve cable somehow freezing up and unable to pull. I had to go underneath the trailer, cut a little access door in the covering, and open and close that valve manually. Still don't know what's going on with it. It's just like the cable is completely frozen inside it's plastic cover. I'm sure it's an easy fix and our dealer with handle it.

Anyway, about the truck. I am completely in love with my engine brake. I can't believe how well it worked coming back down those long long mountain roads. I can't even imagine doing that with my old setup.

Had the same issue, was able to free the cable by turning the handle. Once I got it to pull open, I forced down some Fluid Film. Seems like it gets full of corrosion.

I have a cable oiler for my off-road toys. This may work for your remote dump valve too:

  • Awesome, I bet that DRW felt planted! Sounds like a great trip and a nice new rig to tow with. Hope you get a LOT of miles on the road with that combo, have fun!

Pretty darn tough to not like a new 2016 DRW truck. Nice truck for you.

Over the total of 3550 miles my gas mileage per the info screen stated 9.5 mpg. I can be a little heavy footed at times. But not bad for me.

Get back with care and feeding costs after 500K :)
Should we all live so long :)
