We just finalized the deal on a 2014 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS!!!!! I fought with the dealer all week over minor things, but in the end I think I did OK.

I wonder how the ol' 2500HD gasser will do with the heavier trailer ??

Update.
We got her home yesterday and it pulled great. Actually towed better than my last camper. I never could get the old camper dialed in good. I think the extra tongue weight on this one helped.
As for the engine, I always tow in 3rd but I could easily cruise at 65mph in OD on the flats. Mileage was the same, truck wasn't working any harder than it was with the lighter camper.
I can see how there are guys pulling large 5th wheels on this motor, especially when no mountains are involved.

On a side note.
The people at Bill Plemmoms RV are all great! They are all super nice, good christian people, and I would recommend them to anyone!

You are going to like the camper. Just hope that your outdoor kitchen door does not hold water like mine. Dealer never got it fixed under the 2 year warranty. They did replace the outdoor kitchen counter due to water leakage. But after they put a hole in siding, I was not going back to them for any additional work. They grew from a Jayco dealer to a multi-line dealer and forgot what was important.

As for the tow vehicle, will watch how you progress. Have seen many that realize how heavy this trailer is. At least you started with a 3/4 ton.

No, I'm not ready to buy a new truck. Please keep in mind though, this is not my 1st camper. Our last camper was 30ft with no slides. This new one is only (roughly) 2K lbs heavier.

I doubt 2K lbs is going to make a severe difference in towing. I pulled our last camper up the some of the worse HWY's in the NC mountains. Including HWY 226 into Spruce Pine, 8% grades with switchbacks that you can't get a run at.
(Only those that have been up it know's how bad it is)
Truck did fantastic, engine/trans never got hot at all.

Oh, and I'm running 285's so my final ratio is closer to a 3:73 !!

My comment in the OP was more of excitement of buying a new camper, not to have everyone tell me to go buy a new truck!

Understood. However if you had put the above in the OP I would bet that there would be no comments about the truck. ๐Ÿ˜‰ You did, after all, solicit comments on how it might tow, which in and of itself suggests at least a modicum of concern from you yourself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Again - congratulations on the new trailer. I am sure we are all excited for you. Please do let us know how the extra 2000# works out after your first good towing trip.

This must be your first time on the board... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sounds to me like you have done the numbers and will have enough truck to do the job. It is towing, not racing that we are doing after all. Enjoy the new camper!

Congrats on the new Trailer... I have the exact setup that you do. Been pulling the trailer for 5 years, besides the crummy gas milage you will be fine.

Congrats on the new TT!

I think you will be disappointed with how it tows with the 6.0L/4-spd. FWIW, the 3.73 axle tow rating is near 8000 pounds and 4.10 axle is 9800-ish. Are you ready to upgrade the truck?

Congrats on the new TT. Loaded to camp our 32BHDS weighs 9300lbs. We tow with a V-10 Excursion. Steep hills slow us down, but we have camped Maine to Florida and have not had any issues.

Thanks for the reply!
Just curious, did you get a tongue weight measurement on yours, loaded? I've seen people posting 1200LB TW measurements online.

I had a shop set up my Reese Dual Cam rightafter I bought the TT. Shortly after the 1st camping trip I had to have the w/d setup adjusted. When the Tech completed the work he mentioned my tongue weight was just under 1200lbs. Mt Excursion's hitch is rated for 1250.

Granted Diesel would be better, but that 2500 gasser will be just fine.

If it didn't come with a Class V receiver, you may want to look into changing that. Very small cost to get plenty of TW margin in the receiver limit.

I wouldn't worry about your truck. You will be using it doing exactly what it was designed to do: do work making power at high RPM's.
