keeping a plastic toilet clean?

My new trailer has a plastic toilet with the foot flush. The flush provides a small swirl of water and opens the valve at the bottom, leaving a 1/2" of water in it afterwards....I know some have a jug of fresh water or have hooked up an extra water hose to help with the flush system but I guess what I really want to ask is what type of cleaning methods do you use?....What product too, for cleaning as I'm reluctant to use my cleaner from my home toilet as it may harm the plastic as well as corrode the rubber seal....
  • Ditto on the small amount of Dawn on the bathroom sponge. If it won't hurt baby ducks, I assume it won't hurt any of the plumbing.

    I think it's a Dometic...high profile.

If you press down on the foot pedal just slightly, it will put more water in the bowl without draining into the tank....no need to have a gallon jug of water. Or, you can install a small hand held water sprayer.

I've tried that but there seems to be an infallible system feature that always keeps the residual water level at about 1/2"...
I liked the windex idea. maybe I'll keep a spray bottle handy...
  • Dawn Dish soap and a little toilet brush action. Cleans up just like a plastic cup would.

  • I've used rubbing alcohol and dish soap/water to good effect. I'd avoid toilet cleaner made for porcelain commodes, since that can chew through the plastic and the rubber.

What helps a lot is pre-filling the bowl before doing #2.
