Kipor generator question

Still considering a generator. Many RVers are opposed to the Kipor generator and yet many RV dealers sell the Kipor. It is less expensive than Honda or Yamaha and apparently just as quiet. Why would the dealers sell it if it was not satisfactory?? Just curious. Thanks in advance.

That genny should be fine. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Kipor in this forum.

We bought a Kipor 2000 inverter generator in 2008 and have been very pleased with it. No issues. We've not used it camping but would if we needed to. (We mainly use it for home backup power - once we used it for 11 days straight.)

American Honda sued them over patent infringements. I don't know if the lawsuit was settled. If I remember correctly the Chinese company making the generators for Honda started selling their own generators using the Honda engine designs.

My KGE3000Ti sits at home three years now that I have solar.
If I need cool air 24/7 I am looking for hookups.

I've had my Kipor KGE3000TI inverter generator since 2004, and it has been very reliable.

I have the Kipor IG2000 with inverter so it is safe for me to plug in my laptop at the race tracks. I bought mine about 2-3 years ago so I didn't have to spend $50-60 a weekend for shore power. I use mine from May till the end of September about 2-3 weekends a month and haven't had a problem other then when I first got it the air filter kept on getting dirty. I talked to a few folks at the race track and they suggested putting a 2x4 under the front legs and back legs and haven't had any problems since then. I run mine on a Saturday from about 8 a.m. till about 5 or 6 p.m. in the afternoon and Sunday from about 8 a.m. till about lunch. I will normally go through the better part of a 5 gallon can of gas. The first time I start it in the spring it is a pain in the butt to start.....that is till I clean the spark plug and then normally it starts right up. Is it quieter than a Honda or Yamaha...no it isn't. But I have been very happy with it. Grant you I panic when I start thinking about finding replacement parts for it...but I haven't needed any so far. So I have been very pleased with it. It came brand new from California. I haven't did any re-jetting for the Colorado altitude. Right now I'm running my 1971 21' Terry Travel Trailer off of it. My Air Conditioner doesn't work so I don't have to worry about over powering the generator and my fridge I run off of propane. I have never heard it go off of the smart idle. So for me I can only give it a thumbs up. But like other folks say if you need parts from what I've heard it is pretty tough to do.

This is just what I have experienced in the past few years.

The 2800W Kipor industrial generator I have is fairly typical of a China made generator. Other than to run it every now and again to keep it live we have yet to use it, the solar takes care of all of our needs.

I would consider it a high stakes gamble because of the above reasons posted. Unless I could get a guarantee where I could return the generator and exchange it for a replacement (not play the "hope there are still parts around" lotto), I would not consider Kipor, or any other no-name Chinese model.

Instead, I'd probably consider the Champion 75531i, a 3100 watt inverter generator for about $900 + shipping. It might be more expensive than the 2800 watt Kipor, but Champion is a good company when it comes to service and parts.

Unless money is very tight, I'd highly recommend going the yellow route. It shouldn't be that much more than the Kipor.

Lots of people sell lots of things that aren't necessarily "satisfactory". It may be the only brand that is taking on new dealers. It may be the only brand that wasn't already being sold in the area. He may be able to mark them up more than other brands.
I don't have any experience with a Kipor but I have been around many Honda and Yamaha gen. over many years. They are extremely reliable, have great support if you ever do need it, and are nice and quiet. I've never seen any of the other brands offered at enough of a savings to take a chance.

I owned one. Sold it to brother in law. Still running good. He boondocks all winter in Arizona without any problems. I would buy another one if I needed one.

Nothing wrong with the Kipor. A friend has had one since 2004, its run reliable for over 500 hours with only normal maintinence. The issue we find now is that kipor has nearly pulled out of the US market, its really hard to find some parts.
