Wondering if any Lance 992 owners have actually taken their campers to a scale and got an actual weight? I am thinking of buying one, and based on this information from TruckCamperMagazine:**Lance 992: dry weight, 3,290 pounds + 45 gallons fresh, 375.3 pounds + 6 gallon full hot water heater, 50 pounds + 2x 20-pound full propane tanks, 40 pounds + 2 batteries, 130 pounds + stuff, 500 pounds = 4,385.3 poundsI believe my truck can handle up to approximately 4,500 lbs. If the above is accurate, I'm confident I can stay under that amount.Anybody with actual weights?Thanks,Marty

I think you might want to take your truck and get it weighed. You can not rely on the info Ford publishes. I had a 2011 6.2 F350 with the max GVWR of 11200#. I have a 2012 10 2CDSE Northern Lite and I was over my GVWR by about 500#. This was with a camper loaded weighed a little under 3820#. I think you will be surprised that you are going to be over the GVWR.Take a look at Truck Camper Magazine Buyers GuideThey show that camper when loaded will be 4385#.This is the weight slips from my 2011 F350 CC 4X4Total empty weight 7740#Front Axle 4400#Rear Axle 3340#With the camper on itTotal weight 11560#Front Axle 4460#Rear Axle 7080#This is without anyone in the truck. So I was over weight by 360#. Not to bad but I was over my rear axle by 80#. This is with a camper that weighs 3820#. You are talking at least another 500# of weight so you are going to be will over your GVWR.You may want to get an actual weight on you truck before making a very big mistake IMO.

However, I plan to upgrade the wheels to 19.5" with 4500 lbs capacity each and the tires to the same 4500 lbs capacity each. Weight of my rear axle at the scales was only 3000 lbs with the truck empty and a full tank of gas. Based on lots of research, and reading many similar conversations on this website, I am ok with exceeding the GVWR a little, after I beef up the wheels, tires, and rear suspension.I appreciate the feedback, but I hope this thread doesn't turn into another with people telling me I MUST have a dually. By the way, here are the numbers for my 2011 Ford F350 4x4 SRW, 6.2L gasser as per the CAT scale:Steer Axle 4220 lbDrive Axle 3000 lbGross Weight 7220 lb Truck was empty with a full tank of gas and me on the scale.GVWR is 10,800 lbsOne other note, I will rarely need to fill the water tanks to capacity. I don't need 2 batteries as I will have a built in gen, and a solar panel, and my truck engine will charge the battery. I also pack light, so doubt I will need 500 lbs worth of stuff. So, I really believe if the above estimate is pretty close, I will actually be closer to 4,000 lbs than 4,500.

Don't wait too long to buy your 992. Lance is discontinuing the 992 and a few other models this year. If you are buying new, what's on the lots now is all that's left.

I was guessing at 3700-3800# and I was off the mark by 400# . By the time the average TC'er adds their personal stuff and various camper options, i'll bet we could be talking 5k on that camper.

Just an update since I weighed out yesterday and it might help people in the future

With an empty camper, empty tanks, almost empty propane(all ready for trade in)on my no genny, no a/c 2008 992 I was at 12,200lbs in my 2006 F350 Xcab 4x4 dually.

Sticker says 3700lbs but seems to me its really in the 4200lbs range and I had nothing in the camper and I have VERY limited options.

I found out that the sticker weight of my new camper was understated by the factory and I ended up over the gvwr of my truck. There are a lot of after the fact patches out there, what is not so easy is the brakes. Be very aware of your following distance.

3290 seems light. My sticker says almost 3700 if I remember right and thats with no a/c and limited options from the factory.

I had it weighed last summer on the truck and if we assume my 2006 F350 is roughly the same weight as my old similar 2002 F350(8,000lbs) the camper loaded for the beach was in the area of 4500lbs...roughl, this is only from memory

Go for the Roadmaster Anti-sway bar, the 4130 alloy steel is higher grade and larger diameter the the HW...Bigger is better in this case :)

Granted they start with the dry weight from the manufacturer, but their calculations to get to wet/loaded weight are EXACTLY the same for all manufacturers/advertisers.

This is a camper for a DRW truck. For a SRW truck it would be better to go with the lighter models like the 1050 which weighs 600 lbs. less than the 992.
