- nephi007ExplorerHello. I am resurrecting this from 8-24 posting for this reason. I
called dealer from whom I bought rig explained leak and was told to come on down for an new 1/2 elbow. Went there, showed picture of elbow as it appears here and was told because hose in not PEX but is braided the elbow they had would not work. My plan was to buy elbow as provided here and go back in October to fix leak, winterize trailer, leave it there and come back. Parts dept and warranty manager (rig is under warranty) said to bring it back they will repair. I said will repair myself. Warranty mgr. said it may void warranty. At this point I am considering just capping the hose instead of engaging in all this fuss. Your thoughts? btw the elbows in pix service the outside shower which we never use - HannibalExplorerI just re-sealed four of those on our '17 Jayco 28RLS. Mine were leaking where the hose slips onto the barbed fitting. Those crimp clamps are great but the barb needs a little sealant on it before slipping the hose on. Since the crimp tool is $60 for a decent one, I opted for some screw type stainless hose clamps for $1. Cut off the old crimp clamp. Slip hose off. Smear some 3M marine sealant on the barb being careful to not get any inside the elbow. Slip the clamp onto the hose and the hose onto the barb and don't gorilla the screw. It will strip. Reasonably tight and let cure. Not an advisor and not telling anyone what to do. This worked for me. Just sharing an idea.
- jetcareExplorerIt is either the cone seal in the elbow or the clamp.
- NanciLExplorer IIIs the other end similar ?
If yes; both Lowes and Home Depot carry them in various lengths and various diameters already made up.
jack L - nephi007Explorerhello Thanks for options which are all good and I will follow up. Jerry, it was leaking internittentlly and when i discovered the leak the elbow fitting was loose so i hand tightened it thinking that was the cause of the leak but it kept dripping. so i gotta believe it's a defective elbow and it may have frozen over the winter here but this leak just showed up a week ago.

- MFLNomad IIJust look up screw on hose barb fitting for RVs, should show lots of options. On a 2016 it should not be broken/cracked, unless it froze, or was over tightened.

- nephi007Explorerhello Thanks for the reply. I sure would like to replace the elbow with something sturdier. Perhaps i should unscrew it and take it to a Home Depot? no clue on elbows size since trailer is 900 miles away at camp but I am going back in October to winterize it .we will stay in trailer for a few days so need to get elbow replaced. when i get back there. elbow services the outside shower and is under vanity in the head. what website would youvsuggest. Trailer is a 2016 Shasta rs by Forest River.
- MFLNomad IIYou should be able to find an exact or similar elbow fitting on line, or RV parts store. Is it cracked, or not sealing, maybe just needs to be snugged up? It is likely a barb fitting in the hose.
